SQS is £1350 plus VAT then you have to send your working box off to them as they use the majoirty of the existing components. Not sure if you have to pay for fitting on top either but if you're doing LSD you're talking probs £2,500-£3000 all in. (If fitting is on top)

I would love to do the whole box and SQS at the same time. It's a LOT of money in one go though. More than the turbo and bits! If my current gearbox can last until me until I have the money then I'll do it. If it blows I'm going to have to leave it off the road.

My fear is that it will just pass the stress along to the next weakest component, eg driveshafts/cv's.. and then where do you stop??
Im not sure if there are any uprated shafts out there.. would have to be a custom jobby.

CV seems to be the main fail from what ive noticed on here, never really seem people with shaft failure?

Unlike saxos etc where you fit a k&n filter and the extra 0.5hp strains everything lol

Gearbox troubles are what worry me going bigger, i blew my box 2 weeks after having the k03s mapped lol

Suppose thats where a simple big turbo setup can end up costin £k's for further upgrades

Mapping will play a big part in things like strain on box etc. If you have a big spike in boost it's going to cause massive strain on components. Let's see how I get on, I've already got brand new internals in my box...

yo james,

been a while since we last spoke. you're car has came alone leaps and bounds. my little cupra is still tucked up in its bed on the other hand the skyline is good fun. nice reliable 330bhp through the rear wheels.

just noticed that you're selling up on the K04 hybrid, what did you do with you're ie rods? or didnt you get them. anyway ill be keeping an eye out on ebay for you're setup as im missing the cupra.....

skyline is fun but handles the power tooo well id rather have to wresle the car to a straight line much more fun.

anyway keep up the brilliant work mate

Hello mate,

Nice! A skyline is on my list of cars to own have to get a few pics up mate.
Yeah I decided to go all out and go big turbo in the end, so yeah keep an eye out on ebay.

Well I was just placing my order with IE for the rods and then got a tip that a member on here is breaking his car.
So I ended up picking up a BAM engine bored out to 1.9 with forged JE pistons and rods, forged crankshaft, ADR largeport head, uprated valves and a lightened g60 flywheel for an abosolute steal!
It had only been rebuilt 6 months ago and I have all the reciepts.

I stripped it down to check everything was in order and it was actually fitted with everything he said, and rebuilt it again for piece of mind.

Bit of luck really!

After having a word with him, I think I am going to opt for the 2871r with the big hotside, and run a copy of his Revo stage3(4) map he was using on his Ibiza. Im not sure what to do about the gearbox yet but I have plenty of time to decide.
