Co2 change mid mk4 Ibiza

Just looking on my V5 logbook and have discovered it has the wrong co2 rating!!

Whilst surfing around I found the below info:

2005 SEAT IBIZA FR TDI 130 - 5 DOOR

Date of Registration---------------------6 Months----12 Months---Band------------CO2 (g/km)
24 May 2004--------------1 Oct 2005-----£66.00 ----£120.00 -----E---------------138
1 Oct 2005----------------16 Jan 2006----£68.75-----£125.00-----F----------------143

and was just wondering if anyone knew why this change in co2 was? as the date for the facelift model was Jan 06 (not oct 05)...

The latest brochure says the facelift FR is 139 g/km. It also says mine is 180 g/km yet the V5 says 190 g/km, putting me in a higher band :( The government seem to rip people off all the time like this and I don't think you can argue your case.

v5 logbook

my FR is rated at 138 co2 and is in the lower tax bracket

In my V5 logbook It says 146 g/km - I am sure this number has just been plucked out of a hat!

I cant find a single website that has the co2 on a ibiza fr 2005 as this :censored:

Anyway, I have called the nice people at seat uk and are awaiting their response....

A few months back, I was looking at a 2 litre diesel jetta that was in band C for tax, when it should have been group D. I was told by the salesman that cars are tested for emissions when they come off the boat... some end up in lower tax brackets than theyre supposed to, some in higher - Just depends on the car. However, this throry could be a crock of :censored: fo all I know! Or a maybe just a typo on the v5...

Bit of an old thread but ive noticed this as well...

My car was 1st registered in Dec 04 which clearly puts it in band E but my logbook shows 143co2 :ban:

Date of Registration 6 Months 12 Months Band CO2 (g/km)
15 Apr 2004 – 1 Oct 2005 £66.00 £120.00 E 138
1 Oct 2005 – 16 Jan 2006 £68.75 £125.00 F 143

Rates effective from April 2010
Date of Registration 6 Months 12 Months Band CO2 (g/km)
15 Apr 2004 – 1 Oct 2005 £60.50 £110.00 E 138
1 Oct 2005 – 16 Jan 2006 £68.75 £125.00 F 143

So no price drop for me then after April.

I would put a queery in with the local DVLA office - ask them why your car is showing a different figure to the official web site.

You have nothing to lose - it stays the same if the appeal is rejected - it goes down if the appeal goes through.

Ya think i will, like you say got nothing to lose. had a quick glance at the DVLA site and there seems to be several different ways of reporting an error or asking for info (mistake on v5 seems to be the nearest i could find) will have a better look when ive got some more time.

Might ring but knowing my luck the call centres are in India :D:ban:

I'm pretty sure every individual car has it's own type approval paperwork from the factory which has details such as the CO2 emissions on it. This is used when the car is first registered with the DVLA. My Cupra was built mid 2004 (judging from the date codes on all of the parts). It was pre registered by Seat UK in Jan 2006 on a '55' plate. The emissions rating is from when it was built, not its registration date.

Got a reply back from DVLA...

'Thank you for your email received on 22/2/10. Your email reference number is ######.

Because the CO2 emission figure for your vehicle is 143 this means that the cost of a 12 month disc is £125 and the cost of a 6 month disc is £68.75p.

It is the manufacturer of the vehicle that provides us with the CO2 information when the records are first established here at the DVLA Swansea. If you think that this information is incorrect you would need to get a letter from the manufacturer confirming what the correct information is. Such correspondence would need to be sent into us with your V5C Registration Certificate and a covering letter of your own.

The address details to send into are;

Vehicle Customer Services, DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA.

Consideration would then be made for the records to be amended on the basis of the evidence that you can provide.

I hope that this information has clarified matters for you.

When i get sometime i'll nip into the stealers and see what they say, prob refer me back to DVLA for a game of pass the buck

Forget the dealer on this one - go direct to SEAT UK.

At the end of the day - it's in their interest to have low CO2 cars.
