You need the spring clamps to compress the springs to get the strut tops off.

I got some from Machine Mart, Clarke set of 3, £23.48 with the VAT on, very good set and worked a treat

I tryed my Halfords and they never sold them.....but I heard they do.

Coil Spring compressor @ Halfords is £19.99 to be exact! Bought one a few weeks ago. Made by 'Laser' i think?

It is swan neck spanners they are called

no spring clamps needed when i fit my coilovers they come as one unit

i didn't use any one mine neither, you might want to get new top mounts and bearings, make sense if your taking it apart anyway.

yeh already have all mounts front and rear and new bearing sat in my bedroom, just need the bloody coilovers now!

they will arrive mate, having said that mine took a little over a week to come from germany!!

the only thing a found was the black caps on the front top mounts in the engine bay were a nightmare to get off, i resulted to cutting them off as they were not going to fit back on!

Just buy new top mounts and bearings then you dont have to touch that large nut on the top, just drop the suspension out after undoing the 2 17mm on the hub and the 3 12mm? on the top mount. Just falls out.

Dont know what the fuss is about.

I used the original mounts thats why I used spring compressors.

Its 1x17mm bolt at rear, on bottom of strut.....and 2x19mm on front at bottom of the strut...then 3 x 13mm on the top.

mine should be fairly easy then as i have all new mounts and bearings. Aslong as the nuts and bolts all come undone ok...

nope u wont need them m8, your old strut will come out as 1, and if youve got new top mounts u dont need to get to the old ones do u.. so no compressors needed..

I didnt thing you needed spring clamps as your removing everything and not just the springs?

thats what i was thinking i didnt need any lol remember to get your camber and tracking done as one of the other people said or youll get reked tyres right away!
