Looks great, good work! I'd love to have a go at something like this for mine, thinking of doing it in carbon fibre.

I'll keep an eye on your thread to see how it finishes.

Thats a very good idea actually, I was thinking of doing other bits in my interior in it so that would make the gauge tie in nicely. Also saves the hours of sanding required for a paint finish lol

Good effort with the gauge mate. The car is coming along nicely :)

Cheers mate! Cant wait until next Tuesday now...!

So Tuesday was the big day, a lot of money was spent upgrading the LCR's whole suspension setup! Here is a full list of what was fitted:

  • From 23mm MK4 Golf R32 Anti Roll Bar
  • Rear 25mm Neuspeed Anti Roll Bar
  • Weitec Ultra GT 40mm / 40mm Springs & Dampers Suspension Kit
  • Full Powerflex Poly Bush Kit
  • New suspension top mounts
  • Full geometry and alignment setup

I dropped it off at VAG Tune Services in Aylesbury and it was done by 6pm!

This is a before photo of how it was sitting. (Looks slightly lower at the back as it had the suspension kit and roll bar in there)

And this is after, slightly lower and a better stance. Still needs to settle a bit more too. Will get a better side on pic once it has.

Rear ARB and springs / dampers fitted, looking sexy  (except for the missing cover, new one on order from David @ Sere Motors)

And a little (pointless) shot of the front springs under the arches.

As I said it still needs to settle a little bit more for me to be totally happy with it.

The car has been transformed though! Body roll is virtually non-existant now, it sticks to corners like glue, feels so stable and just so capable at anything I throw at it! The brand new tyres help too :)

Its booked in at VAG tune again in just over a week for a new sump, cam cover gasket and CV joint. Shout out to Nick @ VAG Tune, excellent service!

Just need to finish my gauge pod now :) Think Ill do it in Carbon Fibre vinyl instead of spraying it satin black. Hopefully get it done this weekend

I did spend quite a lot on the corsa too lol. Got the modding bug I think!

Nice to hear it all went well with the handling changes, I know youve had a bit of grief recently so good to hear this all went off without a hitch.

Yeah finally some good news. But they did say the people that fitted my tyres overtightened the front nuts so much they almost couldnt get the wheels off

Looks good mate

Cheers mate :)

spent some penneys there looks good going to do all this next year.

Yep! Well worth it though mate, you will love it

Looking good :) I've got the R32 front ARB in my loft just now, think I'm going to wait until I get a rear one to go with it and do them at the same time.

Decided to do a bit more work on the pod today.

IMG00181-20100904-1411.jpg

Few more coats of primer then **** loads of sanding!

IMG00182-20100904-1414.jpg

There were still a few bit marks so it was time to get the filler out again and fill those holes. This resulted in yet more sanding!

Got fed up of sanding and decided to give it a few thick coats of Halfords Satin Black Paint. It tooked pretty glossy to me at the stage I left it, hopefully it will dry more 'satin' like.

Its drying in the garage overnight, will see how it comes out tomorrow

Got totally bored of the sanding so decided it was time to fit the damm thing! Its not perfect but will do for now until I decide what I'm going to wrap it in.

An old (non-smelly  ) sock blocks the vent nicely

Gauge was secured at the back with the bracket provided. Boost hose secured tightly with a cable tie.

And the finished pod in place! Will probably end up doing it in carbon fibre vinyl.

If I did the pod again I would angle it towards the drive more as it currently reflects the light from outside into my eyes at that angle, and the lights on the dial reflect of the window at night. Still, pretty decent for a first attempt! Pretty happy with it.
