Cupra R SideSkirts jack point cover problem

Apart from the horrid pink peeling brembos, I've not really have any issue with my Cupra R since picking her up 3 years ago. However recently I started to have an issue with the Jack point covers on the side skirts falling off. Driving along and suddenly hearing a clattering noise is pretty disconcerting.

I've also noticed now that 3 out of the 4 covers will not fit back as they should and I've had to secure them with masking tape. The stealer says Im going to need two new side skirts. With the car now out of warranty I'm pretty annoyed at this issue. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

Cheers

I've heard of some people popping a discreet screw in them to help keep them secure - just make sure you have the screwdriver in your spare wheel kit!

you can spend all day trying to push them on, when all that happens is the skirt flexes up toward the underside of the car so you end up pushing against the sill.

What you need to do is get a screw driver or fingers between the inner top edge of the skirt and underside of the car. (so that the inner top edge of the sill has space between it and the underside of the car). Then attach the top of the cover to the outside of the skirt, then to get the cover to clip to the underside of the skirt get the cover between palm of hand and fingers that are between sill and skirt and 'squeeze' the cover. I find applying force at 60degrees of horizontal rather than vertical works best.

If that does make sense, just make sure you get skirt held away from underside of the car as you push the cover against it.

YOU DO NOT NEED NEW SKIRTS.

where are you? someone could help if you are stuck.

Thanks for the replies. At the moment my car looks like its held together with sticky tape. Will give the screwdriver method a go.

Thanks :D

Funny enough this happend to me on the M3 after I got my sisters car done with tyres. It is a horrible noise matey. I thought the wheel nuts were falling off as it was the only thing they touched etc.

I too had trouble making it go back on flush. I ended up using tape too until my bro-inlaw got back to contact seat for a new cover.

I think my bro inlaw got the one replaced for nothing? Not sure?

Super glue :) its enough to hold them on but you can usually get them off again if you only use a few dabs.

have you tried pushing the sideskirt down while whacking the cover on?

had the same problem before, was a nightmare.

i usually fit the outside tab, swing it down and into position, make sure the lugs underneath are actually where you want them - then a quick bash upwards with the heel of your hand on each side and they pop into place with a satisfying click

A badly injured fox with a hang over would of had a better chance of designing the cover points then seat...

Andycupra you are a genius!! Thank you very much, i have literally spent 2 hours trying to fit back the covers, searched, found this, and they popped on first time...i was about to pick up the rubber mallet and smash up my side skirts....

i had this problem but found the solution with a search,it easy to take the whole side skirt off with about 5 screws, then its so easy to pop the cover back on flush!! 5 minute job
