Will have to measure the iat on Monday and see what both sensors say. Regarding the software, the story goes like this.

Car was re-mapped with stock, raising the boost pressure to ~1.1 bar as in your log, after i did the turbo upgrade, the provided pressure dropped to .6 bar boost - car was still pulling unbelievable for this pressure(much better over stock turbo @ 1.1 bar boost) - but it wasn't producing the desired boost pressure so i guess he did replaced it with the stock map, until the custom one is ready anyway, as you pointed.

I have no idea what they replaced them with, all was told is that it can safely provide 1.4 bar boost now. If id guess by the turbo brand, id say a larger wheel from a larger Mitsubishi turbo.

Thanks for good information now i got it :)

Can you please log vag com engine module block 115-20-06 (intake)
Also 115-20-31(afr)
Also 115-20-112(egt)

That would be very good mate Thanks.

Hey mate, the tuner is somehow late with the maps, I've been told today or tomorrow, since today is out of question we'll leave it for tomorrow. In any case i will reach someone with vag com tomorrow and log those channels with the stock maps.

PS: You can imagine im very curious myself :).

UPDATE:

Today, Wednesday 21 July ive had the file uploaded onto the ecu, first impressions with an ambient temperature of nearly 37 Celsius were that there is no longer a turbo hole nor you notice any drop in power/torque towards the rev limiter. (it pulls incredibly smooth, and i really mean that)

Haven't got the logs yet(sorry mate), but at this ambient temp. the intake temp. measured near standstill was round 57 Celsius, and on the move round 46 C (maximum speed attained was around 65 mph, WOT conditions of course).

Should reach the dyno these days and have an exact figure on the upgrade and hopefully also post the logs you asked for. As far as the actual remap its still very odd, im still having the feelin that im not gettin the same response from the engine compared to when i was running 0.6 bar ! (that is if he sold me the correct information at that time..).Flooring it now can be described as having the stock map but with lots more power but not really more torque then before the turbo upgrade(?).Running at 1.1 bar now, for the record.

Thing i noticed today was that crossing the town at rush hour with the A/C on and a happy right foot, spawned a 11L/100km fuel consumption(before the turbo i had at least 12-13L / 100km in closely the same conditions).

In about 3-4 hours i will have the logs, from what i spoke to a friend today i understood that there is no sensor for EGT temperature. I will try using the block numbers you've posted.Lets hope all goes well.

Himm very good information mate but i want to clear what you mean by same torque before turbo upgrade? You are saying that you have same torque but more power is that right?

I 'am also willing to upgrade my turbo as well but i need to find a way fittinf intercooler first. If you dont mind can you tell me how much this pall upgrade cost you and did the company shave the turbo internal ?

I belive you feel that way cause your intake temp is very high we have to find a way lovering it !

Yes i have thought of that also, now its raining and ambient temp has dropped, I'm going to go and log those details in 30 mins. Did you also log yours and have the file ? It would b great to for a comparison.

Off course i will upload all the log i have so you can compare it with yours.

Haven't had a chance to meet with the vag-com person yesterday, dunno if it will happen today either, i wish i had that tool to myself. Will try to make those logs as fast as possible, in the mean time i've set a meeting with the dyno on tuesday next week. Also spoke with the chiptuner again yesterday, after the remap, and keeping things aside he said we could go even further with the engine as it is now. Other than that i'm loving the engine and the power delivery !

I mean it doesn't feel like the peak torque is raised over the standard stock turbo + stage 1 map, but rather that it is spread over the whole rev range, till the rev limiter.

If you want i can speak with my friend at the company, but i have no other information on what has been done to the turbo, probably shaved the housing to fit a larger compressor because from what i recall from changing the DV, the blades and the walls were pretty close to each other, and could def not house a 10 mm larger compressor wheel. Something is 58 mm in diameter now, cause ive noticed they stamped the hotside of the turbo Ǿ58mm on it. Price was 650euro including shipping to the modder, and installation. They work on the stock turbo, so you'll need to disassemble, ship out and wait for it to get back, mine took around 5 business days round-trip with the modding.

Regarding the intercooler: i have 2 SMIC's from an 8l audi s3 ready to be installed, need to get the sillicone hoses and manufacture a adaptor for the sensor before the intercooler. Job has been already done by someone i know here, he claims that even with the stock map there was an improvement.

PS:From what i've gathered till now , coupling this turbo with another intercooler, a free flow exhaust(maybe with sport kat or de-kat) you are much over the stock GTI.

Here are my logs mate (http )

I have spoken with my mechanic today and he said we will find a way fitting intercooler but that would not an easy job and will probably take couple of days making hoses and intallation.i am thinking if i should keep the stock intercooler and add additional one or remove the oem just install the big new one in still couldn decide that yet.

As far as upgrading turbo i found a company in England (turbodynamics) but your company experinced on out turbo ans you are happy i can use them also as well. Please ask your friend in turbo company and learn what they have done that would be very helpful.By the way where are they located do they have warranty on their job?

My main problem with this turbo starts after 4000 rpm is very poor and not boosting enough so thats why i want to upgrade it .

Can you take a picture of your friend tsi to see how they install a intercooler we can do it same way he does is that possible?

Thanks alot for great information i was almost giving up working on this engine until i saw your post and now again this would be very helpfull for people who wants to work on this car

Cheers

Hey mate, you should first do a rough calculation if you plan on mounting an FMIC and see how much more intake space you'll have to fill with boost, we need to think about the fact that increasing the intake lenght and adding an "x" liters intercooler will most def add turbo lag. Also i don't think it is a good idea to take off the oem intercooler as it is heavily interconnected with the ecu and also dependent on the water-pump. (just my thought here, of course if you have someone highly skilled you could perhaps do it but still lot of work involved when disabling it)

tbr.gr/122hp/SSP_405_1.4l_90kW_TSI_Engine_with_Turbocharger.pdf

Full in-depth read of the oem setup.

The company is located here in Romania, but the turbo had to be shipped in Athens, Greece to the mother company which i think its called Turbo Technologies. I will try and get all the details in when i will do the dyno sheet.

I know what you're saying, i noticed also that after 4000 rpm the turbo was making a strange high note noise which now has disappeared thus the sound is now awesome. It howls now.

Car is a Golf Mk5. Intercooler draws air from the left spoiler inlet, where the original fog-light was.

Himm i read that article about a year ago and like i said still couldnt decide what to do but i think i am gonna keep oem intercooler and add 1 additional cooler either fmic or smic .

If i install it before i will definetly publish instalation pic for others cause this is very complicated setup:)

What do you think if i just add s3 intercooler additional to oem ?

By loking at the pictures i may go with the same setup but i will have to talk with my mechanic its kind of hard to make adapter i guess let see how it goes will updated let me show him the pictures but is there only two hoses one interrup with throttle another goes to turbo is that right ?

It is very complicated indeed, another thing that should be kept in mind when installing a 2nd intercooler is to make sure the hoses wont disconnect when running full boost. For an FMIC try forge motorsport webshop, look at the vw scirocco you will surely find an fmic for the 1.4 tfsi engine. Also if i get the funds to start installing the intercooler we i could order more then 1 adapter to be made by the specialist i know here, or if i dont i could help you out ..

Thats for twincharger i email them and ask them if they are planing to make kits for single charge they said not in near future so i will have to make custom one .I think i am gonna go with s3 smic and leave it that way :)

yes for the adapter we can do group buying:)

Finaly decide it and will be ordering it tomorrow i am going to install fmic for 8p s3 .

Nice one, you shouldn't worry with that even if you install a garret gt28(not rs). I will make a acceleration test tomorrow as i got the camera at hand.

got a little set back today, a very ... employer at the fuel station put 1.2 liters of diesel in the tank. asked a few guys some recommend i don't some said it should b allright, if i fill up the tank to max (55 Liters); did so, ran ~200km nothing bad till now. funny considering last night i was sending emails for forged piston, rods, and rings plus i was lookin at some of the port & polished work some folks on the forum do(looks great).

PS: I had the chance today to put the car through its paces a bit today on some country b roads, it feels on a completely different level, the new ecu map is nothing short then fantastic. Rally pace driving on some segments the engine feels very alive after 3000 rpm and doesnt stop till it hits the rev limiter, pullin away in 4th is becoming a joke as it is downchanging uphill now, all that in Average 7.7 L/100 @ 27C max ambient.(and the fuel mix..)
