nice one James, you going for the same platinum or something radical like yellow???

I'm not sure to be honest, i like the platinum LCR's but it would nice to have a change of colour. Saying this if i found the "perfect" car then I'd buy it in a heart beat. I can tell you now it certainly wont be yellow, I'd never live it done.... i wouldn't mind a black one though. I'm undecided what route to take to be honest, buy one with a few bits done or buy a mint low mile example and mod it my self over time.

My monthly mileage has drop over the last few months, I've worked out that I'm only doing less than 6K a year. Assuming i can get one with low mile (40 - 50k) i'll be able to keep for a good few years. This will give me plenty of time to mod it.

On reflection I'm not going to bother asking about buying it back and stripping it, i have got any where to store it, i don't have the time to mess about stripping and selling it... but more importantly i just cant be arsed. It's clearly been bad luck for me that car, so I'll cut my loses and start again.

Its a buyer market at the moment, it's really not the time to be selling a car, everyone is skint after xmas etc... this puts me in a good position to haggle on the price for a bargain. I wont be happy unless i get a real bargain.

Although very bad to say it seems you are coming out of this mess better off. Hope it all goes well and you find your perfect model. I remember when I was searching for mine, saw many and nearly went for a silver one, but as soon as I saw my one I knew I wanted the platnium

Yeah i know what you mean, if i play my cars right i can come out of it with a lower mile car than my first one. I was very lucky with my last one, it was the first one i went to see and it was a minter. I'm going to take a hit on my insurance, but its only £500 at the moment so it shouldnt be too bad.

I really like the silver ones too, i generally think silver cars look a bit boring, but for some reason the silver on the LCR looks spot on. I think It's something to do with the unual shape of the LCR, a silver Golf in comparison looks bland as fvck. Silver LCR with dark wheel looks amazing, as do the platnium LCR's.

Like DK's... Looks very good that. Just needs lowering as I keep telling him, lol.

Silver LCR, dark wheels, slammed. Noice.

I personally think you should find a nice red one :)

I agree, silver can look a bit boring at times however there are some proper awesome looking silver LCR's about. D.K's is one of my favs with the subtle touches he has done here and there

The tinted lights are my favourite bit on his car I think. And alot of the carbon touches, which seem to have made it everywhere..

Yeah DK's motor looks awesome.

Yeah i agree, the LCR's look fantastic with the right stance. Not long before my "off" i adjusted the height of the suspension, I raised it slightly to stop the rear wheels pushing forward in the arch and raised the front a tad... It looked sooo much better and the handling improved massively.

Getting the handling sorted will be the first mod i do with my new car, assuming this hasn't already been done.

I've got my eye of a few cars at the moment, one of them is red, It's George G's LCR, really nice unmollested mint low mile LCR. Although it's a little bit out of my price range.

Now come on lads silver LCR's arent like any other silver car.

It was never my first choice but you cant be too picky when buying second hand a I personally would have happily had one in red (being my preference), platinum, silver or black. It's what you do to them that makes the difference. D.K.'s definatley sets the standard for silver LCR's although as said there are some very nice ones out there (hopefully including mine:D).

What ever colour you get mate you cant go wrong with an LCR but the red ones are very nice and by the look of George's build thread it was very well looked after.

All the best with the search!

shite news matey, your car was coming along nicely before the accident but im sure you will find a nice example. Theres plenty out there! Its funny i was after either a silver or flash red, the red being my preference, and now i have the red i love the look of the silver with dark wheel combo.
All the best finding another, and i look forward to seeing it at a show or meet later in the year!

Little update folks, I spoke with the insurance company today and they should be sending me a cheque at some point this week. This will be for the amount they feel the car is worth £6,500 (minus £500 excess...ouch), if I feel its worth more then I will need to contest it with their estimating department and IF i'm successful then they issue the remainder at a later date. It's not a bad system really; I assumed that if I contested the payout they would only release the money once a final price was agreed.

So for now I’ve got £6,000 to play with, I could probably scrape another £500 together giving me £6,500 to buy my new car with. I've been that my hire will be taken back on Friday; fortunately my friend who has recently been given a company car has offered to lend me his properly sorted BMW E36 328 sports until I find a new motor. Now that's what I call a good friend.

This has helped no end, giving me the time to find a decent replacement without the need to buy the first car I see. I’ve been spending a fair bit of time searching for a new LCR and the prices seem to be all over the place, some of them hugely over priced. The way I see is, it's a buyers market at this time of the year and I intend on getting my self a bargain. The sort of price range I’m looking at i’m expecting to be able to get £500 off the asking price, possibly more if it’s overpriced.

Who knows if things go to plan next week I could have a new car.

Fair enough amount to find a decent LCR.
Perhaps keeps some money aside, you never know what your buying.
Even if it does look all shiney and sound good initially

Good point willie, it would be nice to have some money to spend on things which need replacing / upgrading etc... I would really like to buy of a forum member or enthusiast, basically someone i know who's looked after it.

I paid £6500 for mine last May/June it was an 05, silver with 48k on the clock but just serviced. Needed a new MOT that month and tax the next, then 2 new tyres and pads up front.

I think I got a bargain, just needed a little maintanance and rear bumper needs a new coat of laquer at some point but nothing noticable.

Good luck with the search
