M0rk,

Why do you think we had spent MONTHS on 3 different cars to ensure that the DPF is working correctly without any problems?

Not one of the cars we have seen here at JBS or heard of any other car require re-tuning after a delete package that WERENT part of development

BUT there is always keeping the open mind of 'just in case' so if it ever does need doing it can be resolved quickly and professionally.

Yes I am saying that.

JBS, do you know what sensor ususally goes or is there a lot of options? I am getting the car diagnosed tomorow morning, but can you tell me if the sensors are easy to replace?

OK James. I can understand 3 months of trials & no problems.

Shame that the guys sensor failed on the day of the map. And the other people mentioned equally quickly.

They must be the unlucky ones & there is nothing wrong with the application.

Two fingers to the punters IMO. Time will tell.

Hi!

Usually the one that is most common to fail is one of the temp sensors, I do not recal any fail on the lambda sensors.

Let us know what it does come up with :)

Ok thanks very much mate do you know the sort of price of these if it is that. And how easy a fix they are. My m8 is a quick fit technician. WIll he be able to do this sort of job?

My car had a DPF sensor fail on the way home from a remap (custom code's standard map as it happens) - putting the map back to standard (back at JBS) made the fault go away.

I dont think the maps are at fault, but as far as I can see the extra temperature/flow does seem to make the sensors temperamental.

Unfortunately the "DPF Problem" is a fault with one of the sensors 95% of the time - so although the removal process improves the tuning potential and prevents this leading to a blocked DPF a big part of the problem remains.

I wonder if an alternative sensor is available?

4 (that I know of) out of almost 50 cars is a very low figure. We have done so much testing with the DPF removal.

Non of the tests we have done list that once the DPF Delete is installed it causes sensors to fail.

As mentioned in my previous post they are a common unit to fail.

Mike

EDIT: I also do recal 2 other cars that came in for the DPF Delete (with their warning lights on) and the fault was actually down to a sensor before we had done anything to the car, so we recommend to both customers to get the sensors changed under warranty before the DPF so there would be no extra charge for a new unit.

Sorry but that is NOT a very low figure, almost 10% that you know of is a totally unacceptable figure.

Alright guys got my fault codes read out today using my mates Kwik Fit Diagnostic. The readings showed

"Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor, P1958, Bank 1, Sensor 2, Short to B+"
That is what through my dash light up.

but it also shows

"C522 Engine Control Unit, No signal"
I'm guessing that is because the DPF has been taken out? But would just like that clarified.

Cheers guys, also where can i buy the sensor from and what kinda prices are we looking at?

Not jumping on the wagon here.

I too had the same issue when testing DPF-Delete maps. This was not from JBS or Custom code.

Normally the map would go on fine, no lights. Nut after a good hard drive the light would show.

I have tested maybe 6-7 maps, most of which had this issue

This was an issue with the map..not the sensor. The sensor was not faulty.

Once I got a new updated map, all has been fine for 4k miles.

Again not jumping on anyone, just sharing my experience.

BIGG

Also you mentioned a funny smell. Has this gone away. Diesel burning smell ??

Any white smoke on idle after a hard drive ?

Who did this for you, does the map have a version no. ?

Cheers

It was done over here in NI.

And no version number.

But I experianced issue as highlighted on this thread. I was expecting issues, as I was testing the files for the mapper.

I had the warning light on for 100s of miles, no damage.

Either way no worry's. Just annoying to see the light on all the time

At least you got it resolved, seems some over here have not

Hey chris, smell has now gone away. Back end of a red car gets a tiny bit sooty lol, but i am now used to the slightly more diesel smell from the exhaust. I had the car diagnosed and tried to reset the fault. Did not happen. The EGT sensor is officially gubbed.....
However i am a little angry to find the price of the sensor!!!!! £110!!!!!!!! :(
i'll be honest i would have admired Custom Code if they had even paid some of the sensor bill, after giving them £800 in notes! But no after Jerry from J.Gracie phoneing CC they have said you by the part and i'll fit it free of charge..... £110 is a lot of money on top of £800. I am dissapointed... as to be honest a few people have had this issue straight after the map, which to be honest a lot of people would turn round and say replace this or i want my car back to standard! Which with a receipt and a fault that has occured straight after you have paid for a service, the £800 comes back in your pocket, i do really like the map, and i am not asking for that but i wish CC would offer some form of payment to help with the fault.:(

HI

We had a meeting with the C-C today regards the possibility of turning off the Sensitive prone to failure EGT / Pressure sensors.

The upshot of this is there will be a option to turn off the said sensors in the near future.
C-C aim to have this option in place for the middle of January. Updates will be FOC and can be applied either at HQ or the original C-C agent that was used.

So if you can live with it till after Christmas , you can simply have a update flash From J.Gracie.

Hope this helps.

This is deffo what I want to hear
If this proves successful then I think I will have it done after my warranty expires
