no, the pictures of phils are of the proper mk3.

the ones I have and you i guess are mk2.

all I did is buy the topmount bearings for the mk2 which were pretty cheap, and put those on in my oem top mounts.

This will make the coilover bolt which pops out the top of the topmount sit lower than it should.

I guess not ideal, but when I bought the mk2 topmounts as well, I found that they didn't match with the 3 bolts holding it on looking from top of engine.

so I brought them back and only put the other bearings on (the mk3 bearings are too wide for the mk2 coilover)

has been fine since, about 5 months now

hope that helps

yes only the bearing.

you mean the top spring and metal stopper of an Mk3?

Because only the stopper won't fit as the Mk2 spring is more narrow

Ok, so after quite some thinking/doubting I'm pretty sure I've decided to sell the Cupra.

Since I 'completed' it, its kinda stopped being interesting. There is still a few kinks i need to solve before I put it up for sale in mint condition. Then hopefully it won't take too long, and I'll get a good sum for it (mind these cars are still very valuable in The Netherlands, unlike in the UK)

Now, as for replacement. I still have the Golf 1 I bought a few months back, which I am restoring to its old glory atm. This serves as a extremely cheap car, which looks good once on colies etc.

But its not quick. Now after the Cupra i need something quick. ANd I think I might have found its replacement. I want something which is cheaper in purchase, so I can set the extra cash aside for a rainy day. Now I'm entirely not sure what you'll think of this choice but

a Fiat Coupe 2.0 20valve turbo.

I'll let that sink in with you guys and await response...

indeed it does. 220 hp standard isn't bad!

And its quite a bit more luxurious as well, definately compared to the cupra (eventhough its about 6 years older!)

shame your selling your cupra mate, but sometimes you gotta move on!

hmmm golf mk1 i hear? i nearly brought mk1 gti, but needed alot to restore, and i would of needed a daily car, so i couldn't afford both :( one day i will though :)

i was looking at the Coupe Turbo's, they are good value (shame insurance rapes me, i'm only 21) but they are heavier then the ibiza's/cordoba's, but then again very easily tuned!

Well Well Well the dutch man is back!

I thought you may have lost interest, i`d noticed you hadnt posted in a while.

After telling me not to sell he sells himself (well the car), nothing wrong with a coupe in my eyes easily tuneable so i`ve heard and doesnt look too bad albeit a little dated. Although i do think the cupra is a better looking car.

Good luck with the sale.

yeah but for the 20 valve one, 6.5 seconds to 100 will definately make you quicker than a cupra.

But the Mk1 only costs me 71 eurpo's a year insurance and no road tax; car is 26 years old ;)

Dont but a Fiat, im sure you have heard what Fiat in Uk stands for....

Fix It Again Tomorrow

Ive owned 4 in my life and ive had problems with every single one of them. Two Pandas, both falling to Pieces. An Uno, head gasket went and 1 gear box, and no i didnt drive it like a plank, and finally a Bravo, again another head gasket failure, 3 clutches and 2 gear boxes, one of which literally blew up into tiny pieces.

Not trying to put you off, but i think there are just as fast cars out there with much better reliablility. You just cant relax owning one, because you know at some point it WILL go wrong, and not cheap fixes lke coil packs. And if you think im biased against Fiats im half Italian so i love Italian cars.

Good luck deciding

ok for the record:

I still have my cupra, but as soon as its mot'd then its up for sale.

I don't know what got in to me earlier, but it is definately not being replaced by a fiat lol.

I think i'll be getting a Mk2 golf G60 (supercharged 1.8) which should allow me to keep more than half the money i make off the cupra. I can definately use that because next year i am becomming a dad!

so eventhough I will (hopefully) not have a seat anymore, I will still be active on here with my Golfs. Guess you lot will have to deal with me and my vag cars a little longer haha

indeed tarzan, I just might.

I know they are easy to get to higher figures. Either by working on the compressor (different pulley, flowing it, etc) or a turbo...

but I'll probably buy 1 with work, so first get engine proper, then exterior, and then work on figures

:)

once I start I'll be sure to open a thread

Been a while since i last came on here, I enjoyed reading that thread Reuvers, a rare car and a good looking rare car at that. Loving the shot of the front with the intercooler poking through.

Good work man:D
