Double check that you've selected the correct option. Another member was having a simlar issue and it turned out they have selected the wrong one, but it was only a letter or two different to the correct word.

needle sweep,
turning fogs
fan speed in auto
red ambience lights in all modes
changed mpg to be more accurate
Thats about all I was looking to do.....would like to change the headlight wash to be less often as Dean has done, but cannot find anything about it in the software anywhere.....

When closing the virtual machine it asks if I want to save or power off.
Do I need to select save or just power off the virtual machine.
Will the license expire after 30 days and prevent me using the virtual machine? I don't understand this snapshot thing you mentioned in an earlier post?

Its the SWRA options. Not very obvious I have to say but im sure in german it means something

Save = basically like using 'hibernate' in windows, but managed by Vbox. This means when using the VM again you start where you left off just as if you'd frozen time.
Power Off = like using the power button on a laptop, completely shuts down the OS and powers of the VM.
Regarding the snapshots, do a quick Google search to get a bit of background (search something like "virtual box snapshots"). I'd recommend taking a snapshot once you've gotten your VM working and set up how you like. That way if something goes tits up you can just revert to how things were at the time of that snapshot.
I wouldn't worry about the Windows license too much, as even in the worst case scenario if you had to start again with the virtual image, you'd only have to install VCDS (which is quick and easy really).
Its worth keeping your VM's to specific tasks, i.e. have a VM dedicated to VCDS and nothing else. That way you don't have much invested in the VM in terms of config etc, also means you're less prone to enable the internet connection.

Just made the first mod this evening using the excellent guide from the forum.
Enabled rear DRL's which means my front DRL's can also run at full brightness with rear lights and the added benefit of an illuminated dash and speedo at all times. (I have the halogen front DRL's which I switched for led bulbs & no auto lights option)
Carbon display could not be enabled on mine as I have not got the NAV option (I tried)
Cornering fogs were already enabled as mine is the SE on which they are standard option.
I am going to try the locking/unlocking chirp next.

Eye, spent bloody 3 hours when i got back washing the thing......guess it can stay in the garage for a few months now!
Think I am done now -
Today done the enable chirp on lock/unlock and added in car Menu of on board computer.
Also added in car Menu enable/disable of DRL's option.
Tried adding into DIS "litres remaining in fuel tank" display but could not find that option anywhere.

Thanks for the info guys, the cable from ail express worked on an old xp laptop. The netbook I tried running the virtual PC on was too slow making the connection to the car flaky. I managed to add needle sweep

Mirror lowering when reversing
Disabling the daytime running lights with the handbrake applied
One touch mirror folds in
Deactivate ignition tone and seat belt tone
The Leaving Home lights was accepted by the car but didn't work, probably because the car doesn't have a light sensor, I was hoping they would come on anyway.
Lap timer didn't work as it came up with an error when I clicked do it.
