I finally got to drive my Ibiza after fitting the Cupra PD160 suspension i got off Devonmikeyboy a few weeks ago :p All i can say is the difference is amazing :D

The standard suspension on the PD130 is nowhere near as good as the Cupra. Firstly the car sits slightly lower, so it looks better. But most importantly the car feels much more planted on the road. You can take corners much faster and you much more confidence because there is less bodyroll.

This is by far the best modification i've done on my car since i had it. :D This weekend i'm fitting my 312mm brake upgrade :)

Very good, Im looking at new suspension options.

Was thinking Coilovers, but then again dont want to go stupidly low, then was looking at some Eibach springs, and uprating shocks in another 10k or so - now thinking of Cupra setup.

How does it compare with the stiff bone shaker FR setup? How much did it cost and where from?

I only drove it a short distance to my gym and then back home, but initial impressions are really good. The ride quality isn't noticeablely worse than it was on my Tdi Sport, which i guess had an almost similar or same setup as your FR.

I don't think i will get a true picture of how it compares until i take my car to work tomorrow. There are a few country lanes i take it on which should give me a better idea of what the car is capable of now :D :D ;)

As for cost, i got mine off devonmikeyboys rolled Cupra. I have no idea what they cost from the dealers. Although i did notice the shocks are made by Sachs, so maybe Spaniels Fr can help you out there

If you get them from a dealer, they could be quite expensive, i have no idea. I'm gonna go in a week or two, so i'll try t find out how much it will cost. You only other alternative is to wait until some poor sod writes their Cupra off, so you can nick the bits off it!!!!

Don't think you would go far wrong with the Eibach Prodamper kit. Seems to get good reviews - mines sat in the garage. Got my new top mounts and bearings yesterday and now ready for the fitting:D

how much lower at the back? did you compare the length of the rear springs ?
The paragraph entitled 'Chassis Effectively Agile' in this link gives details of the suspension changes.

It sound as if the back has been lowered 9mm more than the front. There are also changes to distance between front and rear track and the silent block mounting mountings. As IH786 has managed to fit the suspension I guess there aren't any major problems doing the swap provided you fit all the required bits.

Yep the car is lower than before, not by a massive margin, but my Cupra alloys fill the arches a bit better than before :D

I fitted the suspension over the weekend, but i only got to drive the car yesterday. The reason being i originally hoped to fit both the suspension and my 312mm brakes at the same time.

I (stupidly) decided the easiest way to do it would be to remove the whole hub. But i had two encountered problems:

1. I didn't have the socket to remove the big bolt from the driveshaft
2. I managed to cross-thread the n/s track rod end [:@] [:@]

So in the end i only changed the front and rear shocks over. I never had the hub spreader tool. But i don't think its that important, if you know what you are doing with a chisel, it only takes a minute or two to seperate the hub from the strut.

The biggest problem is the driverside, i tried to follow muddyboots guide and use spring clamps to compress the strut, but it wouldn't work. I ended up removing the driveshaft to give myself the room to remove the strut.

And to make matters worse, i ordered the o/s track rod end by mistake, which was non-returnable, and which meant i had to drive my mums rubbish Toyota Yaris for near enough a whole week :censored: :censored: :censored:

LOL - yep the driver's side strut is a bitch :)

By the way, the hub spreader tool is only about a tenner (I got mine from a VW dealer), and it really does speed things up. I've messed about with old chisels and the like before, much better to have the proper tool :)
