Fog Lamps...how?! [98 Ibiza 1.4SXE]

Hello all, first time poster. Last night driving home in dense fog I realised I have absolutely no idea where my switch is to turn my foglights on! Car didn't come with a manual so I'm a bit baffled. They're not in an obvious place (either that or I'm being very stupid). Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi, and welcome.

With the light switch turned to either sidelight or headlight position, pull the switch out, away from the dash. If you have front fogs, the switch will come out in 2 steps, first step is front fogs only, second step is front and rear fogs. If you only have a rear fog then I think the switch just has a single step.

Most of the VAG cars of recent years use a switch of this type as it means it is impossible for you to leave your foglights on when you turn your car off - as everything is operated off the one switch.

my old man suggested wiring it straight to the battery via the switch but im not sure..hes an electrician by trade and can do it easily, but im sure there is someone on the site who knows the real way to do it~!

na, the fogs have wires coming out the back but the wire loom that feeds down to that area has nothing for the fog lights!
the cars going soon, would be nice to have them working jan when i sell it

I fitted fogs to my ibiza and the way I did it was to buy a fog wiring kit like this one :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FOG-SPOT-DRIVING-LAMP-LIGHT-WIRING-KIT_W0QQitemZ300169592276QQihZ020QQcategoryZ28645QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It worked perfectly and was relatively easy as it has all the wiring diagrams and instructions. Saves having to change the standard switch as well, also I prefer having my little 'turbo button';), Though you have to be really good with a stanley knife to do what I did

Also I cut out the holes in my original grille covers rather than buying second hand or new ones, this is extremely time consuming but it saved me money and is a little different!

Took me about 2yrs to find out how to put the fogs on but then we don't get much fog so may have discovered it sooner otherwise......

My excuse is that whilst my headlights were smashed didn't wanna risk the electrics and now headlights are good don't wanna draw attention to it when hid's not working properly[:@] when it eventually goes in for its brakes i'll get everything sorted then, think may need a 2nd mortgage!!!
