Front Grill "S" painted black...?

I was actually thinking about spraying the 'S' black on my car too, but i think it will look a bit much. Has anyone done a d.i.y job on the chrome grill around the the whole unit? Ive seen a few cars with the surrounding trim finished in black and it really brings out the 'S' badge, looks quite cool

Probably because the car is a Cupra - comes with the Black surround on the main front grill as a feature (instead of the chrome, as on all other Leons).
Either that or the owner has swapped out their Grill for a Black Cupra one. :p

I have sprayed the chrome surround on my grill gloss black.

I removed the grill as a whole from the front bumper then masked it off to leave only the chrome bit exposed.

I then gave it a rub with some wet and dry paper so that the paint would stick.

I used about 4 coats of gloss black enamel spray-paint (from Homebase) and then a further 3 coats of clear lacquer spray (from Halfords).

Its a great cheap mod, costs no more than £20, very easy to do and looks awesome!

I do agree that blacking out all the chrome is a bit too much. Doing the surround really suits the car :)

Hope this helps!

Looking on EBay, there's a Mk2 Leon LINEA-R Grill for sale. Finishes this weekend.

I have one on my car - How might this look with a Black "S"? Black with matt steel surround!?? ;)
Might bid on the one on EBay and give this a go!
