HID ballast - water bottle removal?

Hi chaps,

I've seen a few people that have mounted their driver's side HID ballast somewhere behind the water bottle which means it is tucked neatly out of sight. I've currently got mine stuck to the bottle but want to move it.

I had a quick look at the bottle but can't figure out how you remove it? I'm wary of diving in there headfirst and ending up with the leftover mystery bolt scenario I experienced as a child when dismantling things.

Cheers!

I was wondering this also, I have temporary fixed it to the front bumper facing up but had a quick look at the bottle removal. Looks like you need to remove loads of items just to get the bottle off. Anyone have any tips?.

there are just two plastic nuts that hold the water bottle in, i think 10mm socket should be suffice. remove the two nuts and you can jiggle the bottle out of the way enough to get the ballast on the inside of the front wheel arch. There you will find a 8mm threaded hole to which i bolted my ballast. Nice n neat out of the way looks OEM.

cheers

Surrey darling...
Sounds like a good solution so long as there's no risc of damaging it if you accidently over fill your washer fluid? Is there a nice out of the way place on the nr side to match?

Some people have mounted them out of sight inside the plastic covers, infront of the battery cover. I opted for the mount for the OE intake. Whip off and sandwhich the ballast bracket between nut and tighten up again.

i have bolted my passenger side to the inside of the plastic cover for the light. looks very neat and again out of sight.

I am thinking of the same thing aren't I?, the 2 plastic covers that you remove to get to the light lense cover?.

I was gonna mount mine here also but I want one of the Air Scoops off the group buy (if it gets sorted) and these covers will need to be removed and possibly need to move the ballast where I have it for some flexi hose...hmm...

I’ve got mine fixed where my side mount intercoolers used to be. Nice and out of sight! Oh are people telling there insurance companies about these? I only ask because the legality of these things is questionable. :D
