Ibiza Cupra Tyres - Need A Change!!

Hi folks,

got a 2007 Ibiza Cupra TDi with standard 17's and will be needing a new set of tyres all round in the not too distant future so.......WHAT YA GOT?!

Was also thinking of 215's as opposed to 205's to get a bit more on the road and to try and cut down on some of the road noise, any thoughts on that one?

Oh and I'm rrunning standard suspension but was thinking of possibly getting some rear spacers.

What are you running and how do you find them?!

Not sure whats best but, DON'T get pirellis, just got two on the front and the road noise is horrendous:cry: Cant wait to get em swapped its like running on a flat tyre.

Wont getting a wider tyre amplify any noise?
 
I've got Uniroyal Rainsport 2's on my Cupra and they are an awesome tyre. They aren't any better for road noise but are in a different league to P-Zeros in terms of performance

I also run on 215/40/17 and they make no difference to noise, comfort, handling or wear rate from what I can tell. What they do give is an extra few mm protection for the rims
 
Falken FK452's here, they seem ok, alot quieter than the Goodyear Eagle F1's I had before. Prob a bit less grip, but they're cheaper tyres so I can't expect too much. Can't comment on wear seen as they've not been on long!
 
A lot of people rate Toyo tyres, cheaper that P-Zero and better performance.

I've got P-Zero and regret it. Only had them on 6 months and need to get some more :(
 
Cheers for all the replies folks, will have to get some pricing up done and try something different!

P-Zero's are shocking and having had a few sets, its time to change!

It shouldn't affect anything but I think by law, the larger tyre has to be on the back. Thats what I was told by the tyre fitter who changed mine anyway. They didn't charge any more so I have no reason to dispute his comments

No such law. As long as the tyres on each axle are the same, you can run 20s up front and 13s on the back

You're right when it comes to wheel diameter but wider tyres should be put on the back to induce understeer before any oversteer. As I said I have no reason to dispute what the tyre place told me. It's up to you at the end of the day
 
Thanks all. Ant FR has 4 Toyo's for sale in the 'for sale' section for £200 which is a bargain! I'm gutted cos I just bought 2 from blackcircles for £180! :cry:
 
the T1R's are softer compound so less road noise overall...and i'd say go up to 215/40 as you get extra peace of mind when going anywhere near kerbs, especially mounting them (which is hardly possible on 205's without damaging the alloy)...they fit the wheel arches better as well ;)

had mine on for 5k miles roughly and wearing very well
 
I've just takena set of Good Year GSD3s off since they were down to the limit. They were a grippy tyre and pretty quiet too but they do go off over time as they are a bit softer - the last few mm it tends to be rather noticeable. My mate had P-zeros on his and hated every second they were on.

I've been through lists and lists of tyres pondering what to fit and in the end bit the bullet and paid out for a set of Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2s (these are, incidently, the standard fit tyre for the clio 182).

I can't comment on the wear rates yet but they were worth it as far as the peformance is concerned - once bedded in the grip levels haven't diminshed compared to the Good Years and although they aren't the quiestest tyre out right they are good on refinement with a big plus being the amount of feel and feedback they give compared to anything else. The 18 mile run to work is now giving slightly better MPG too.
 
Iv just replaced Goodyear Eagle F1's / Dunlop SP Sportmaxx's with 4 Falken FK 452's. half the price of the F1's / Dunlops and I cant see a noticeable difference
Highly reccomended by me, I got them for £64 a corner
 
I've been running Yokohama Prada Spec 2 for last yeah, great in the dry, not in the wet.

I've been hearing good things about Uniroyal rainspec 2 so they are my next tyres.:)
 
I've also done 10k with Yokohama Prada Spec 2's and find them fine, specially as they only cost £50 a corner. I've got to work (35 miles away) in snow up to the bottom of the front bumper with no issues were as the Pirelli's really struggled last year in lesser snow.

I think the fronts are starting to go off as noticed recently grip has reduced when booting it on my usual roads. Could maybe just be very greasy roads so will see how they go. Got loads of tread on then yet for what is a fairly soft tyre so hoping my grip comes back after some heavy rainfall to clean the roads ;)
