Can someone point me to a thread that explains the DPF issues?

The TSI looks lovely but I can't find a model with aircon on the configurator... unless I'm not looking expensive enough (and therefore out of my budget as it looks like the TSI is on the more expensive side - understandibly perhaps)... I'm used to the climate control on my current SX you see, wouldn't want one without at least aircon if not climate control.

The TSI comes with climate control as standard

LOL good on both counts.... no boot light is very, very silly of SEAT!!

... Seat's site must have confused me, the trim levels are quite complicated, I looked on the configurator but under Ventilation it only said "tinted windows..." when the sportrider trim was selected which seemed to be the only trim I could get the TSI engine with.

Anyway will be having a look at CMC in Harlow on Friday with any luck.

The sportsrider TSI def comes with climate control parking sensors bluetooth 17 alloys all as standard now so not much need for any extras as they are all there lol

Yes, I gathered that now - looking back on the configurator it's all under other headings... ;-)

Wondering if I can justify the price tag.. what road tax band is it in (I've probably missed that on the site too). My current car was £90 for 6 months so I'd like to go down to one of the lowest bands if possible I think my current one is in band G. Which would be fine if it was a rip roaring cupra or something LOL.

EDIT: Band C so about £30 tax.... sounds great to me!!!

u got it £30 tax i got a 1.4 sport so its £115 for me lol im thinkin of trading in for the TSI dont think paying bout 5grand is justified tbh for the sake of climate control bluetooth parking sensors and a lil bit faster enginge and lil bit betta mpg

Yes, it's a tricky one my beeza was only £6995 when I bought it at about 13 months old and 10k on the clock in 2006 (bargain I think)... this one would be about twice that. My beeza is only 60,000 on the clock now but I doubt I'd get much more than £2000 trade in for it so I'd still have to pay 10 grand or so for the TSI unless I could find a superb bargain used one....

... still my old one is getting a little old now.... and the TSI does sound like bleedin' good fun with probably much better fuel eco even if it doesn't make the claimed 50mpg it'll beat my current 1.4's 33mpg or so. .... hmmmmmmmm

Yea i test drove a TSI and it was fun i must say spec wen moving of dats the only thing i hate bout the 1.4 jus slow to move of the mark etc yea mine is nearly a yr old i only get bout myb 8k trade in if im lucky now lol sux wasnt TSI in the country last dec wen i got the 1.4 but i manage to always get between 40-45 mpg round town and 40/43 on motorway doin 75/80mph

I was really disappointed in my ibiza recently as I drove from hertfordshire up to Blackpool constant 70-80mph nearly all the way, aircon switched off. I thought I'd get really good return but worked it out and it only came to 38mpg... which is pretty pants for a small and slow car.... :-(

That's what really triggered this line of thinking. I don't mind sacrificing economy for performance but having pants performance AND pants economy is just... well... PANTS!! LOL

I'm using the car a bit more nowadays too since my other half sold his car and got a van so it's getting scary how much fuel is going through it.

I want a 1.2 TSI now.... LOL Seen a deal online for a new one at £11695 which sounds really good value to me.

Perrys in Aylesbury but ******* in St albans has it up at 11495 for September only.

Might have to get my skates on..... LOL

Oh sorry didn't realise it would censor the dealer name.... I don't think it's it a swear word??? It allowed me to write Perrys... have i done something wrong?? Or is that dealer out of favour?

I love my TSI!! They changed the specs and trim levels that the TSI is available on for the MY12 cars. I got mine from dealer stock and got a brilliant deal due to the new MY12 changes. Got mine on 1st July but it had to be registered by 30th June to get the deal (MY11 models in dealer group stock). It is a brilliant car - I drove the 1,4 and it seemed just as sluggish as my previous car (1.2 Corsa). The TSI was the only choice for me, plus it had to be Candy White, lol! My Brother (TTX) got his back in November last year and has the TSI in the SE trim. For MY12 the TSI is only available in the Sportrider trim. S glad I took the plunge and got mine when I did! Road tax is free for the first year and £30 a year thereafter - so I will get 4 years tax on the Ibiza for less than one year's tax on the old Corsa!:D Very pleased with mine to say the least!

Sounds great Candywight - what sort of mpg do you reckon you get from it - is it anything like the quoted >50mpg combined?

I've booked a test drive in one for Friday afternoon - can't wait!

I regularly get in the 40's on a 10 mile commute trip, most I've had is 57 mpg just 3 days after getting the car! My Brother (TTX) has achieved a figure of 65.2 mpg in his, but he travels a different route at a quieter time earlier in the day than me! I love mine so much I am even making plans to take her over to the Mainland to do some 'proper' driving and really test her out! Have fun on Friday - it'll put a huge smile on your face! I hadn't driven the TSI in the Ibiza but had tried the Leon briefly (didn't like the floor mounted accelerator, lol) and when I collected my car the grin spread across my face before I had even left the dealership!

Just come back from the test drive of the SEAT Ibiza 1.2 TSI (105bhp) at Harlow CMC SEAT.

What can I say.... well only that I know what my next car will be!!

To expand on that, I had about 20-30mins in the showroom while I waited for the salesman to finish with another customer, while he did that I took a very good look at the 3DR 1.4 16v COPA edition they had in the showroom and checked out all my niggles that I have with my current Mk 4 Ibiza and whether they'd been fixed. There wasn't a long list as I do really like my current ibiza but they were:

Door hinges on the old ibiza had only one stop midway so it was hard to hold the door open partway without it either swinging out or swinging back and hitting you in the leg...

... new ibiza = Fixed, the door by and large seemed to stay where you put it and had more "stops" on the hinges.

Old Ibiza had NO boot light (blooming silly) - TICK bootlight present in new Ibiza (as stated above)

Interior plastics on old ibiza a little hard - interior seems uprated on new ibiza.

THat was about it and in almost every way I was impressed with the new shape Ibiza - more space than my old one (though according to Parkers it's actually similar in size though a bit longer wheelbase) and the boot is definitely a bit bigger. Getting into the rear of the 3 dr was quite easy and it had decent amounts of space inside.

Outside it looked very nice especially in the ice silver (very white silver) colour.

The only thing I could see that was worse was slightly more restricted diagonal rear vision because of wider pillars in the back - though the rear headrests (if present) sit further down so up down and general rear vision through the back window was actually better.

SO on to the test drive. Well I test drove the 5dr version and the first thing to get used to was having to put the clutch in to start the engine. Not sure whether that is a safety feature or something to do with the stop-start system fitted to them? Straight away I could tell the new little engine is far freer revving than my old 1.4 and very much more lively. First roundabout confirmed this and putting my foot down a bit to overtake on a dual carriageway the car just lifted it's skirts and went, no hesitation and no frustration like I get with my current car. In fact the acceleration was enough to actually give a slight push back into the seats, very impressive for a little 1.2 engine and I could tell this little car would simply be a hoot to drive.

What I liked about my ibiza when I first bought it was it's "cocooning" feel, this isn't lost on the new version even though it's lost some weight to help fuel economy and performance, it still feels solid and dependable

In all I like it very much, it's pretty much exactly how I'd have wanted my ibiza to have been improved. And I will get one.... eventually.

Driven a 1.4 mk5 and hated it. Rough, slow and the worst turbo lag I've ever experienced. And if there was a car where you really needed a responsive turbo, it's one of these shitboxes.

guessing that was a 1.4 tdi lol, if it was a petrol 1.4 i would expect to wait a long time for that turbo to kick in lmao
