i have scat. 10s of users on the 1.8T forum are using them, there was a post a while back and every one with them have never had a problem.

they are very cheap and good quality.

i wouldnt bother with the extra for pauter! we are running such little power to have to rely on pauter

and yes bob is great! very well know on vortex! order from him he is one of the cheapest i have found.

Thanks for that, it puts my mind at rest that others use him, and also that Scats are up to the job.
By the way i like the stealth look of your golf!

Mines hoping to go into Jabba to have the internals uprated in the next couple of weeks or so. Already have the Supatech Valves, its just the Rods i need to get. Thats the problem being without the car. Worth the wait tho!
I will have a read at the link you sent me. Cheers

Waiting for Jabba to get back to me today hopefully with a price.
I bought the valves from Ryan_ s3 on this forum, Brand new £250. He changed his car before he put them in. He originally got them from Bill. They are Black nitrided/inconel versions.

my problem is i get bored exstreamly quickly and want more power :p hopefully this is enough to keep me happy :D how much roughly does pistons valves and rods cost? as eventually i hope to get these changed?

I did'nt see you were getting the BT conversion in any other posts so just read through all this. I would say 350 has got to be your limit surely in the mk4. not from a tuning position, but from a drivability situation. I would say that once you have had that all done you will need to spend money on making other things more reliable and tighter. Surely some monster money on suspension set-up and chasis set up will be of more use than ringing out even more power.

a Quaife ATb would also be of a lot of use too.

I mean picture this, pull up to some lights on a damp evening, boyo pulls up next to you in a corsa. lights go green and said 1.4 corsa wastes you off the line. Why? cos you're sitting there spinning like a *****.

My mate has a corsa 2.0 turbo, and its about 300 bhp, sound great, looks fun, but it is such a pig to drive as all it ever does is spin up.

Thats where your money needs to go afterwards, getting the chassis half close to coping with that power, but i doubt its cheap. You only have to look at what Bill and the other BT boys spend on all the fancy tech stuff they add on.

But watching this very interested and hats off to you for being the first to do the mk4, i know there was another guy who harped on about doing it Chris cupra or something, but he never went ahead with it, i think he bottled like so many others have.

keep us all posted on this

our heads flow very well any way, i think gas flowing our heads will be fine, i dont think there will be much more gain from porting the larger port head. simply because we have turbo charged cars the air is forced in. porting and polishing has more of a gain on NA cars which need every git of air they can get.

though porting and polishing my small port head is what is going to be done allong with the boring to 83mm at the moment. i hope to see some sort of gain, on and off turbo. torque esp.

Jabba are quoting me for a port and polish but i am also looking into going largeport. Not too sure what to do for the best.

I'm tempted to go largeport but that dahlback mani cost me a fortune and that just keeps bugging me cause i'll have to scrap it for another mani. More than likely an 007p.

I'm sure a ported small port will be ideal for you circa 370. Won't really be worth while getting largeport unless you get an even bigger turbo.

you'll need a head, mani and converting to to VVT on largeport.

Sounds a tho it would be too much work and cost involved to swap to largeport.

the labour is around £1325 for fitting the rods, 83mm Custom JE pistons, boring the cylinders, port and polishing the head and balancing.

(£525 for port and polishing the head, £90 for boring the cylinders)

allong with this i am getting them to fit the supertech valves, fit the clutch, rebuild the gearbox (1st gear is really noisy and on its way out) fit the diff.

they are also getting me a g60 flywheel, headbolts, rod bearings and what ever else is needed that i didnt source.

the total for the labout inc the parts they are getting for me is around £2k as a rough estimate

std t'body size but with adaptor for r32 size (not that i see the point in r32 throttle body on smallport)

If I do change mani it will be a lp version with a r32 tb.

Maybe i should stop arsing around and get a turbo kit first
