Comfort rear wiper enabled.

Taken from this thread put my own numbers in...

Here is how to do it, turn the cars ignition on and wire up your cable and start the VAG-COM software... from the main VAG-COM screen go for "Select control module" and on the next screen select "09-Cent. Elect." it will then connect to your cars central electronics menu and you then want to select "recode" at this point you have two editable fields... the one we are editing is the software coding one. The original code on mines was 16396 ... to add the comfort wipe function I added 8192 to that, so changed the code to 24588 and clicked "Do It!" At this point I clicked "Coding" again to make sure that it had changed. Basically take the key and cable out - start the engine and put your front wipers on and then select reverse gear - the wiper should come on.

I think this only works with pre-facelift models.
I also think everyones software numbers will be different, its the adding 8192 to the original number that does the work.

That paintwork is shocking, i would be taking it back to seat if it were me tbh. Car of that age should not be rusting especially as it has a galvanised body.

Don't know if I should go back to Seat about it. I certainly won't be taking it to any Arnold ***** garage, I don't imagine they'll help much.
Plus I have covered it up now. Maybe I'll go to somewhere like Livingstones in Uddingston, see what they say.

Also the paint has come of here because the sill and bottom of the wing has been deformed I think, last time it was jacked up was for the wishbone bushes last summer.
I'll try and get a photo to show the damage.

You should go and get it checked out. And tbh, AC in linwood have been the best for me so far, although i have'nt tried livingstone yet (heard that they're not too good with warranty work, but service is good). Linwood sorted loads of little niggles in my old mk4 mainly on the suspension even though i had aftermarket springs and shocks on, the head tech was really picky just like me so the people at the reception knew to get him only when going for a road test lol. Service was also faultless, maybe cos its a vw garage as well? Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Bickets/Verve in Kilmarnock, they are the worst garage ever.

Couldn't get the CV boot fixed tonight as the threads on the CV joint are stripped... new CV joint required.

Lower ball joint was rather stubborn to get off, all bar one of the 3 bolts came off... meaning it had to be persuaded out with and angle grinder!

Had to put fuel in it when I came home £70! :ban:

On the plus side I did get 452 miles from this tank.
