Aye but I thought that would be included in the 45l capacity.
It was REALLY empty when I filled up, the light came on yesterday morning not long after I left the house, I drove to work then to Kilmarnock, then home again. A total of 63 Miles.

Something bonkers with your car mate, that receipt shows you managed to cram 50 litres into what should be a 45l tank... I even vented the tank on mine the other day and couldn't get more than 44 in!

Still, good effort getting such good mpg. Are you running completely standard, or do you have a panel filter of some kind in?

I have a K&N panel filter in there, and the car was just serviced 3 weeks ago. I suppose a clean engine is a more efficient one. Funny about the tank capacity, this is the 2nd time I've got 50 litres + into it... not sure how...

I think your panel filter is helping with the good mpg. I have a mate who swears K&N panel filters improve the mpg.

Mine is going to put the service light on within the next 1,000 miles, so I'll service it and get a K&N filter, see what changes. I do oil and filter changes every 5k so I shouldn't be getting a "dirty" engine so to speak.

I've got a run up to Teesside and back planned next weekend, so I'll most likely vent the tank again this week and see what I can get in.

you can get 50l of fuel in the tank if you keep venting it. i.e. fill utill the click, press the button to release the air (vent), fill until it click then vent and keep doing this until it's nearly pouring out the tank. Only worthwhile if your doing high mileage tbh.

I vented mine so much a little bit of fuel did end up spilling! Still could only get 44 litres in. I reckon it did have 4 or 5 litres still in it as the fuel light hadn't been on long though (fuel light comes on at 7l remaining). If Gareth got 50l in he either has a bigger tank or he was running on fumes or something when he filled up.

Next time it runs all the way down I'll plug in the VAG COM and see what it says about how many litres are left before I fill up.

Probably do nothing, tried it on my old 1.4 100hp and it made no difference whatsover. Good luck!

Not looking for extra power really, just curious to see if I get more miles from it. When my Mum uses Optimax diesel from Shell she gets better milage and virtually no smoke compared to other diesels.
