Had the cruise control fitted to my Cupra R for over threee years, no problems. But Saturday it stopped working and hasn't worked since. I did jump start another car Saturday morning - could this have wierdly done somehting?
Does it have it's own fuse? as far as I know everything else is working...
Cheers,

not taking the piss - WD40 will clean up the contacts just an idea an certainly not harmful.

another reason for the cruise control to stop working is in the brake light warning light has come on either due to bulb being replaced with wrong one or removed or the pedal jammed but I supppose you would have mentioned that!

Just checked tonight and the brake lights do not come on, so guessing its a brake light switch...wil get a new one tomorrow and replace it. thanks for the help

Ive found out that if the Speed sensing signal is lost from the ECU the cruise will stop working . this is picked up from the gearbox and tells the ecu that the car is goin faster and then turns the (standard) radio up to compete with road noise, its a blue wire with a white trace.

i know this cause it took me hours to get a cruise working but got there in the end :D

I think yours is brake pedal switch tho speedinsaxo

I will check out that too, but don't think two things would break at once. This is my 1st fault with the car in 3.5 years...if this is all that goes wrong then I am happy....

well worth just chucking on vag-com & checking both the sensors aren't showing a fault, but also that they work by looking at the measuring blocks.

Can I do this with the freebie version I have ?? To be honest since I got it I havent done much with it other than connect it up to make sure the drivers work etc..which they seem to do - other than that I dont have a clue what I am doing / looking for....?

Just phoned Seat to enquire about a brake light switch and the bloke instantly recognised the part number and said, 'yep, we sell a fair few of these' ... !

I hope I can - I hate taking that bl**dy panel off. The headlight switch is on it's last legs from the time before when I pulled it off too far :(

You do know to push the light switch in and turn it clock wise, then it will towards you?

Yeah mines been off more times than the wifes knickers recently ;)

Well, I manged to get the switch out and off the loom, but too fiddly to get the new one in - making sure I didn't break it. So the lower dash came off. Wasn't too bad in the end really. 30 minutes (in the dark...)
