I've had a new head gasket fitted after a small fusefailed and the engine overheated because this stopped the coolant pumping and cooling fans operating - precautionary replacement i was told.

Also had;

New dash display because the display failed at low temperatures

New rear bumper due to being defective

Coilpack replacement because number 2 failed 100 miles from home.

I'm sure there's more too, but have chosen to forget right now

So who else has had parts fixed under warranty and whay are they ?

Oh i'm sooo glad you reminded me

There's at least another 3, i suppose you know them too :D

Seriously though there must be more with problems, like crankshafts maybe ? or gearboxes or con rods etc ?

List them here, lets build up a picture of what has gone wrong in some cases with these cars,

Mine went back after a week due to the paint parting company with the wing!? :censored:
Oh and I had the AA out to rescue me after the intercooler pipe shot off and the jubilee clip was no where to be seen :drive2:
From the list of stuff you've had to endure, it looks like I've gotten off lightly!

Mine came without the 2 rattles.

I still havent got a rattling dash, but I didn't need to ask them to sort it out when it was in for service as I figured out a solution by then, I just keep some coins in the ash tray.

I managed to get the rear rattle started myself by repeatedly going over the speed bumps in works carpark at 130mph for about 1/2 hour one lunch time.

Other than that the only problems I've had are losing tread off the tyres and the brake pads wearing out.

As my nearest dealer is 45 mins away I'm leaving it till the service (can't really hear it when the CD's playing though)

Basically the top centre fixing must have either worked loose and deformed the bumper which rubbed on the boot lip or the bumper was om the start (pretty sure i'd have noticed).
See full story here if you can be bothered.

P.S. they mucked up several times with the spraying and fitting of it too :(

P.P.S. Never trust a body s hop that works with half a dozen tungsten bulbs in a warehouse :thumbd:

I was beginning to think i was alone with big issues on the car, seems like there are a few others with similar issues.

Anyone else got mechanical or bodywork failures ?

I've noticed there's noises coming from the back of the car, sounds like all the seats etc creaking. Didn't happen in the Cupra so I suspect it's because of the stiffer chassis or suspension or something. If I find a fix this weekend I'll pass it on ;)

I've got a weird one Spur are going to have to sort. When you adjust the left hand side mirror all wors normally. When you adjust the right hand mirror both adjust at the same time. The woman on reception told me that "They are supposed to do that" ... hmmm.

Also I have what sounds like a leaf or something in one of the vents as when the blower begins and the stereo is off you can hear this rustling rattling type noise. I'll have them sort that too!

Also .... when I am playing a CD and the TP is on the CD will stop intermittently then start again. Very odd but I don't suppose they will do anything about that ....

Just coming up to 40k in my R so to date.....

New cooling system and aircon, as air con or something failed, and engine spat out all of its coolent in traffic

New bolts on rear seat as wernt attached after leaving factory, new stereo head unit, new horn, new jacking point covers, new badges, new wheel bearing, new fuse for lecti w'mirrors, new cd autochanger, new header tank for cooling system, clutch dipping and soon to be sorted, as is high speed whistling from engine...

I think theres quite a bit else, though I think my experiences are quite common!

Though still love the car, just wish pedro could learn to build it properly!

I had one of the early ones so had to have the pump thingy changed.

Intermittent interior door panel lights flashing now and again - I've got quite used to it now - gives the car personality ;)

CD changer is a bit quirky - could be on the way out.

Er... can't really think of any more.

I've even had the dash off about 6 times now for various reasons and still not a single rattle or squeak. :)

24,000 miles and counting. :)

Still going like a dream. :cloud9:

Both cooling fans mounted on the radiator, along with the fuse that feeds them, front brake discs and pads due to them rusting up and the pads falling apart and damaging the disc. All done under warranty, other than that 4 tyres.

Grrr. Mine rattles some. Dash (both sides), tailgate trim too by the sounds of things.
Drivers instrument binnacle was loose - as in not actually held in at all.
Squeeky rear suspension
Changer is temperamental

Erm, nothing major really, but the rattles are damned annoying.
