Was just searching for a recall on the gearbox that someone else posted and found this and couldn't find it on the forums, it effects about 220,000 cars by the looks of the VINS

Concern : HEAD AIRBAG MAY FAIL TO ACTIVATE UNDER CERTAIN COLLISION CONDITIONS.

Description : It has been identified that, some SEAT vehicles fitted with right hand drive head airbag equipment, due to an assembly error in the wiring, may experience incorrect head airbag activation under certain collision conditions.

Remedial Action : Recalled vehicles will have the subject wiring connections checked, and corrected if necessary.

Vehicle Id : VSSZZZ6LZ4R000074 to VSSZZZ6LZ4R221563

this is a wee bit out of date - but would they still do the work on it?

Reference : R/2007/116
Manufacturer Ref :
Make: SEAT
Model : IBIZA / CORDOBA
Launch Date : 25/09/2007
Numbers Involved : 323
Build Start Date : 01/03/2004
Build End Date : 31/07/2007

:( My 130 Sport code falls within these numbers.I've owned it for 3.5 years(since it was 1 year old).I've not had any recall notice from Seat.I wonder if they'd have just checked it anyway, whilst servicing it?.
Think i'll give them a buzz.No point in having an airbag if it doesn't work.:headhurt:

i flipped my 2003 a few months back...no air bags or seat belt safety measures activated:shrug: lol

Doesn't mean it's faulty - the bags will only fire if particular sensors are triggered. Reading above, it seems that only the driver's bag is affected, so if you were in a situation where the bags would have fired the passenger one would have fired, but the driver one would have failed.

Is this the steering wheel airbag or the optional curtain airbags? To me it sounds like the latter, very few cars had that option. As for flipping your car assuming you took the easy option and rolled it sideways the front impact airbags shoulnd not have deployed.

My car has been out of warrenty for over 2 years now, will they still carry this out free of charge?

is there anyway u can find out if this has been done, or do u just take it down to a seat garage???

You could try ringing SEAT UK on 0500 222 222 - I would imagine they'd have access to records of which vehicles need/have had the fix

This recall is related to head airbags, and that's a pretty rare option on Mk4 Ibizas, in fact I don't know of any with them fitted.
All Mk4s had front airbags, and some models have side airbags, but not head airbags.

Head/Curtain airbags are available as an option and as part of the Convenience pack on FRs/Cupras. The FRs/Cupras have front side airbags as standard.

Yes I remember them being available as an option on some later models, but don't think many people chose them. I remember looking through ads for used FRs & Cupras a while back and never saw any with them.
