well here she is in all her finery, been great having her back and she has taken a bit of a pasting this weekend but she loves it;) back to OEM front end and god i love being able to see down dark country lanes once more, such a nice bonus!:D ;) also her new CF pedals, shown in place but as yet to be bolted, just so you get the idea.....

also a few shots of her new stablemate,Thumper, who is unearthing a whole world of surprises the more you look around her,so far uprated shocks n springs so pretty well slammed, scorpion exhaust,K&N filter,Mangles Spider wheels, not bad for the princely sum of £199  of course she needs stuff but will be an ongoing project. this is her after a very swift date with some soapy water and stuff! she is however a complete and utter mud factory and there isn't anywhere that's not caked so a hot dat with the Karcher is set for Wednesday......i love this car already,i think it's a regression thing, going back to my youth!

hehe, thanks hun, itching to get started on her, think the interior will get taken out and cleaned over the next few days and see what holes i can find:cartman:although maybe engine mounts ought to be the first move!

when she's done there may be reason to be jealous, although i don't think what i have in mind would be suitable for you ...;) i want it all now!!

oh, you so did not want to say that!:D you have never seen anything like it and no, i'm not posting a pic just yet of that particular pleasantry. You may want to retract that offer rather rapidly, hehe! Dad got some of it off yesterday,he keeps appearing to do stuff, hehe, think he's as excited as me,top man! which is very good as i can put in xmas pressie requests and know i'm likely to have them obliged ;)

tomorrow i've got the day off so will be blasting the underside, taking out the interior and messing about with the fat bottle of industrial strength engine cleaner i acquired, hope it doesn't pee down all day :(

bit random, just spoke to the guy that owned Thumper a few years ago and she has no horrors in her past which is nice to know, never let him down and the springs are g-max as suspected but he can't remember what the shocks are, although they are blue and red,any ideas anyone?

Had today off and stripped Thumper out pretty much with the help of my trusty assistant Suze;) One bloomin screw that will not budge on the gearbox so couldn't get the dash out but we shall persist. Still good news so far, no obvious horrors,no holes or horrific rust noted:thumbup: although we did find 24p,a pair of tweezers and a condom, ewwww!:cartman:

As she looked this afternoon, spent a couple of hours cleaning the seats as well as pretty rotten and will see how they dry out although they won't be staying as they are anyway.........

why you wanting the dash out, Claire?

dash bulbs all need changing, and needs a good clean, mud in the fans etc and just to check everything out in full before i start spending money! think there was another reason but can't think of it,head is full of lists and stuff of things to do,hehe!

Wow, haven't seen a picture like that for years.

Last had a Mk2 apart in '98, with carpets up, seats out etc... following a sunroof leak. Here's some evidence I used to get my hands dirty (this was taken in 1997 with Andy & Miles who I was at Uni in Oxford / house sharing with who now run Storm Developments in Aldermaston, Berkshire)

Mk2 picture

You could do with some proper big bumpers on that baby!! And lets hope you don't find any more 'nasties' lurking in the depths.

What interior are you putting in? Leather Recaro?

and plenty of bruises.... oh wait no my leather seats caused those

stop bragging cos you got them for silly money:p i have chunks out of my legs and i'm not even going to get any benefit from them!

as for cleaning that front bit of carpet,i think that's the only part of Thumper that has escaped most of the mud strangely! unlike the heater vents!

You've got 2 temporary armchairs in your garage is that not enough? :p

They still cost more than Thumper though....

Back from the dead
At GTi international I saw a black G reg Golf 16V with leather electric recaro's (OE), ABS, leccy windows all standard. Car was a minter. Must have cost the earth back in the day. Looked really tidy in the Mk2 and really lifted the inside.

Looking forward to seeing this when its done as the Mk2 is one of my all time faves.
