give it a wiggle it should only move with a lot of force, if its loose at all itll leak. fwiw i was able to tighten mine from above, bit fiddly though.

out of interest, what does the MAP sensor do?

I'm sure I saw something in the top hose that i could get too, at a right angle to the hose and I'm sure it looked loose.....

EDIT: I'll search for MAP sensor ;)

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor. Should have an aluminum machined connection somewhere on the top hose - looks like its on the corner..

What happens when it leaks around there? Do you need to seal a gap around the join? or just tighten it up?

that's the piece.

should have fitted / retained the rubber gasket when fitting the MAP to the silicon pipe.

when it leaks there, you get a pressure drop

pabs basically when you fitted the map sensor you needed to install the metal map sensor adaptor, the hole is narrower than the built on connector on the upper pipe, something like below
mapsensor.jpg

i hadnt got mine fitted and the rr showed a 20 brake loss because of it, not conclusive but gives you an idea plus i was only hitting 16psi.

No thats it, if you can see the sensor there should be two layers of metal and the plastic of the sensor., the actual interface and the sensor adapter which is a tighter fit for the sensor than the interface bit is.

Right, I've had a look at the sensor - basically it seems as though the sensor is quite far away from the hose - I can rotate the metal bit (and sensor) inside the hose, but the sensor is tight on the metal bit....

Make sense?
The metal insert in the tube means that the sensor is about 1/2 inch away from the hose - the metal bit sticks out of the hose...

I've had a grab of hoses but all look ok....

tis possible - but i don't know what I personally could do about it.

I've tightened some jubilee's on the hoses, but nothing that would cause a leak IMO. It might be the MAP sensor bracket, but I'll have to leave that to JKM :( Was hoping I could sort it out myself.

One thing I have noticed though, is there is only 1 metal peice - and thats the one coming from the hose to the map sensor. There is no other metal piece that I can see. But the car has been running like this since FMIC install, and the leak has only just appeared (that I know of anyway)

yes mate - thats not the problem. Its the whooshing of air I can hear near my drivers door and near my feet when i boost over 10psi thats the issue...

I drove with window down today - the leak is really quite loud from outside the car....

What other hoses are there that could leak? I'm assuming its on the DS of the car, as thats where i can hear it coming from.. .just don't know what else to check.

I can hear a loud rushing noise too matey but i think thats down to the air getting squished through the flat section of piping. the only other bit that could make a louder hissing noise would be the map sensor being loose.

I've never heard this noise until recently - and it sounds exactly the same as when my top intercooler hose was loose, and eventually popped off while on the M3 doing 70mph.... I just don't want this doing the same.

With your MAP sensor - could you rotate it in the hose? I can turn my map sensor (and bracket bit) by about 25 degrees in the hose, and the hose around the join feels a little weird...

you are missing the map sensor adapter mate and have found your leak, are you missing a screw on the far side too btw, mine came off and thats pretty much what told me i was missing something.

ok - i'll best be asking JKM if they know anything about this.

Strange how it has ran fine for a while, up until now...

Does the adapter thing come with the FMIC install? Or is it something that you need to get seperately? I don't see mention of it on the Forge install pdf...
