yer, i read that as well...but the proxe 4's are supposed to be based on the T1R's and improved, so don't exactly know why everyone says the T1R's are better

got proxie 4 all round...cant complain at all...great grip so far in wet and dry...

meant to be the new toyo tyre and one up from the ti-r's

yeah, thats why i bought them!
i'm near the end of my first set, so started looking at tyres, again:rolleyes:
came across this website Tyretest.com
going on the average of peoples reviews the T1-R's are slightly better in the dry, better in the wet and in the snow
then came across Falken 452's, better again but about £8 a corner cheaper;) so could be going for those :headhurt:

for £66 a corner you can't really complain...that's my selling point for the Proxe 4's (basically because the T1R's are still in high demand) ;)

Toyo T1R's 215/40 17 fitted  i think the car should have come with 215's in the first place as it sits a lot neater on these

haven't got round to pumping the tyres to correct tyre pressure so the fronts look a bit flat...however, all i can say is, WOW! road noise is hardly evident, no scrubbage going from 205 to 215 and the extra lip should give me a bit more rim protection. Performance review to come once they've worn in a tad ;)

i can't really say mate as i didn't go up in size on the same tyre...but yes, the T1R's are much more responsive into corners and the ride doesn't sound so crashy on 215's. they fit the arches better imo :)

looking to have my wheels refurbed in the upcoming months, and not going for a traditional respray to anthracite or black...keep posted ;)

Toyo T1R review

happy new year membrinos!

right, i thought i'd post up a brief review of the Toyo T1R 215/40 17's, also for those in doubt as to whether to move up to 215.

imo the FR/CUPRA should have come standard with 215's as the ride isn't so clunky, much improved rim protection, and i can mount kerbs without taking a chunk out of the alloy!
Cornering and road response is also improved (along with SS strut brace fitted beforehand) but don't know if it was the choice of tyre or the tyre size.

The T1R is a very good tyre, wet and dry grip is very good...driving through puddles you hardly get any aqua-plaining, excellent for motorways in heavy rain. As for snow, can't really say as we experienced more ice this year in London which you can't really assess on, however, i don't have any problems cornering or taking off on these tyres (possibly as i was more cautious on ice and revving low)

The T1R's have done just under 5k miles and are wearing well and evenly, usually run 34/35 psi on fronts and 31/32 psi on rears...turning grip is improved on the standard 205/45 PZeros

i would definately recommend the T1R's, however, would like to try the PRX4's next to evaluate whether they really are an improvement on the T1R's before moving to another manufacturer (if i ever decide to ;))

anyways...apart from this nothing new, but coming soon will be remap and full alloy custom refurb :d

forgot to mention i have fitted Philips 4k Bluevision Headlights and Xenon sidelights before Xmas...much whiter than standard setup, with a tint of blue to oncoming traffic. not a fan of very blue lights, so these do just nicely :D

this was my car before leaving early due to snowfall:

and finally got round to take pics of my new headlights and sidelights:

small update membrinos...finally got my Stage1 done at P-Torque  very pleased with the outcome

all i can say is...do it if you haven't yet! i'll post up a scan of my results when i get a chance tomorrow, but just for info my standard bhp was 145, and remapped was at 170

thanks goes out to Will at P-Torque who was welcoming and dealt with my car in roughly 40 mins...managed to get to my footy game well before kick-off :D

Will mentioned my results could become slightly better with a new air filter and oil which is due in the upcoming 2 months when my service is due

Hia mate just wondering, with the lights you bought did you have to buy H3's (Full beam) and H7's (Dipped Beam) then some sidelights?? Also can you buy white fog lights to match or not?? Cheers

hey mate, thanks for posting :D

i didn't change the h3's as i only ever use em for flashing, i just bought the Bluevision h7's which came with a free pair of Philips blue xenon sidelights

as for fog lights, i wouldn't suggest changing them to whiter bulbs as the light will be reflected by the fog and they won't work as they're meant to. would look good if you risk driving with them on
