I have been talked into getting a boost gauge and after seeing the one in my mates ST its kinda cool (sad i know but there isnt much that moves in my car that often). So what do you guys think of the Nomad pillar i have heard there are some fitment problems and it costs a fair bit. Has anyone mounted their boost gauge anywhere else in the car.

Also what is a nice boost gauge to go for and where to get them from

My Nomad pillar fits fine mate, cost about £50 iirc and around £40 each for the gauges!

The nicest gauges are probably the defi gauges but at £150 each for a gauge and a further £100 for the connection box + the cost of the nomad pillar it turns out to be very expensive.

My setup cost about £130 all in and it looks really good, especially at night [B)]

My gauges are autogauge

where did you get the gauges and the pillar to?

Ive just done a search on ebay by typing in autogauge or auto gauge and lots of smoked face series gauges come up!

They've come down quite a bit in price aswell as when i got them 2 years ago they were £40 but now it looks like you can get them for about £20 each!

As for reliability, ive had mine nearly 18 months now and they are still working fine.

Definitely a worthwhile mod imo

A bargain! will have a look, the only thing that puts me off doing it is threading the tubing through the engine bay and the wiring, not my forte.

where did you get the pillar to?

that looks nice where do you connect the gauge too do you need to drill into a boost pipe if so which is best

i got my autometer boost gauge from ebay - imported from the US at about 1/2 the uk price.
I think awesome-gti are selling off some gauges at the moment.. might be worth a look?

The nomad pillar is really nice - but the fitting is usually the weak-spot. It is held on with velcro - but you can make it work... i did :)

all on leoncupra.co.uk mate. :) I plumbed it into the top hose on the DV - not had any issues at all with it.

Could plumb it into the fpr hose, but the hose that was supplied with my gauge wasnt long enough to reach it.

cool well i wont be doing it anyway as i am a whimp when it comes to doing things with my car just in case i break it a bit like some people are with computers even though it is impossible to break a computer by clicking the mouse, I will find someone a bit more experienced to do it or take it to a garage maybe JKM once i get my exhaust fitted with them

right think i have decided what to do after having every mod possible flying through my head this week but not the money flying through my bank account, i am gonna get my missus to get me the gear knob for xmas (if i am good) i am gonna buy the oil temp and boost gauge along with nomad pilar for myself for xmas, then get my exhaust in April with stg2 then bit by bit get the suspension mods as by then my 50k service will be up and new tyres no doubt and some where along there you can guarentee brakes will be needed as well.
