I snapped 2 Allen keys trying to remove the SAI bracket.... one of the bolts is NOT budging! Used degreaser etc to try and shift it, but no joy yet. It's the one on the top of the engine, RHS of the intake manifold.

If I can get the bracket off, I can move the SAI to the right slightly (if I remove my intake feed probably more so) and then get to the plug...

This may sound a bit extreme but I promise it works....

If you have a blow torch, apply a little heat to the fixing then fit the allen key in situ and tap/thumb the key in an anti-clockwise movement rather than trying to use a twist motion; this is the probable cause of you damaging two allen keys.

Heat will help free the ceased bolt and the short sharp movements will gently move it free, without causing any damage.

I sound like a mechanic but I'm not but it's worked every time for me in the past.

As well as clothing........ It's good to hear that the Revo map hasn't disappointed. I think I will use Revo, having considered all the options. JKM seem to be very reputable. Were they engaging with you whilst mapping the car? It's nice to be involved.

I've said it before, but I'll always go to JKM for my car stuff - even when I moved away from the area I still make the trip down, take a day off work or whatever if I need to. People at work think I'm crazy, but I just tell them that good customer service is hard to come by, and you know when you get treated well! It also helps that they know their stuff too, they live and breath it

With regards to my mapping - I actually wasn't about when they did it - I was in town shopping! And with Revo, being a "generic" map (loosely termed) once it's loaded on, it just needs a test drive or two to check logs and tweak the boost/timing settings. I expect you may be able to go out with them while they do this if you want to - but you'd have to check with JKM yourself.
All that said, everything they did was explained to me, Keith did the mapping and told me what he had set it to, what the logs looked like in terms of CFs etc - I couldn't have asked for more really. Of course, you can always get the car on the rollers once done and you can see for yourself!

IMO, when you work hard to own and up-keep your car, it's nice to know that others will treat it as they would their own. Within reason, money doesn't factor into the decision for me. It's based on the feeling that I get from the mechanic and/or garage. I use a local independent VW garage; it's nothing fancy but Alf, who is the owner, has 35 years proven VW experience and is genuinely a nice guy. He's not the cheapest but I use him for everything and anything. Unfortunately he doesn't do mapping but he himself knows of JKM and highly rates them; I think they mapped his RS4 a few years back.

Anyway, hope the last gauge plays ball.

Well, a further couple of days of driving the car and I can definately tell that the Revo map isn't as aggressive - I'm not getting wheelspin anywhere near as much - before Revo, if I floored it in 3rd gear in damp weather I'd be lighting up the tyres, but Revo seems to have cured this. As a down-side, you don't get the same initial burst of power, but what it lacks initially it gives back further up the rev range.

I'm still happy with it! Maybe next time there is an RR day I'll get my butt down and compare.

Quite funny really - this week you're the 2nd person to ask me if I want to sell my car to them! Seems people really love my Cupra

Unfortunately though, I can't afford to swap cars, I'm kind of attached to this one now, and almost got it exactly as I want it. Just need to finish the oil temp sensor install, and get 2 new front tyres, and it's pretty much there!

Glad I've done the cambelt/waterpump etc this year, probably should have done it last year but it's done now. It's only just done 44k too, so 11k since I bought it off you 16 months ago!

I want a 4wd/Awd car for my next vehicle whenever that comes along - fed up of wheelspin! lol

With the money I've put into the ibiza, I doubt you'd pay what I'd want for it anyway. I always said I'd have this car for a good few years before getting rid of it, although I did find myself on autotrader after you first posted up to see what was out there if I did sell! lol

Thought I'd post up some images of my car in the snow on this thread too, took about 4 hours to dig 2 cars out of this snow and turn it around on the icy road!

The car needs a good clean now after all this bad weather, but at least it's tucked up in a dry garage for now

MOT is due in Jan, but suspect I'll get this done before xmas, and I think I'm going to need 2 new front tyres very soon.

Today the Ibiza had it's MOT, and flew through, no advisories, and a clean green slip for another year.

James, so nearly mate! I've just got to get that last sensor fitted. It's attached by cable to the gauge now, so does report a temperature, but this is literally an engine-bay air-temp as it's hanging loose at the moment. Far too cold for me to go trying to fit it.

Probably the longest ever mod I've dragged out, this one! haha.
