Pics of polished/powder coated internals

Are these polish's your talking about a solid block coloured red and green ???
What did you put the polishing wheel in ??? A drill or bench grinder ???

I'v got a polisheing kit with the buffing wheels and the red and green blocks but they dont work very well in the drill, I'v been useing wire wool with autosol which is fine for the charge pipes but I need a bit more for the manifold.

No I've got one of those polishing kits with the green and red blocks to....these are nothing like that its a professional polisher my mate has in his workshop, its like a massive motor.....really powerfull if your not carefull it'd rip the manifold out of your hands and throw it 100yds across workshop

You wouldn't do it with a bench grinder they dont have enough torque and would burn out in 5 mins.

The ones your on about are good for doing the fiddly bits as its hard to get in the little nooks and crannys with the machine as its fixed to a bench. [thats how I did the bits near the outlets, the kits are very good for that]

Theres 4 stages of mops and 4 stages of colours, think there green, black, blue and grey.............to be honest the first stage is show standard the others are a pain in the arse because as soon as you touch them with a polishing cloth you put scratches back into them again.........You wouldn't autosol afterwards you'd have to apply a wax I guess.

might have to take you up on that offer mate. how much would you do it for. im thinking which look to go for unsure about powder coating or polishing my car is same as yours. think polishing would look better but like the powder coat lol

Are they cotton buffing wheels that he uses in his machine ???

hmmmm... would polished be beter to reflect heat off the inlet rather then black absorbing it??

I'm not 100% sure as they got a good coating of wax.....I should be up there tomorrow night so I'll have a look.

The machine is not actually anything special its basically a really really powerful motor with a big left handed thread/spike as the spindle........If I remember my camera I'll get you a picture mate

Black is known to soak up heat but I dont think it would be enough to notice.

FINE ive decided ill go polished instead of powder coating lol. just gonna get finances sorted and then sort out the engine bay!! should look mint.

Finished mine now.....I was all ready to fit it the realised you coud see some of the ports so had to do them to

Pics are a bit crap as they are without flash as with flash they were just a blur.

DK I forgot to take pics of polisher but I will do!

I have rocker coming soon to, do you reckon it would look better black or polished?

Empi5 has got a polished rocker cover, it looks quite good.

Just realised you can still see the polish on the first pic...looks like I missed a bit

I was thinking of polishing it but I think I'd hav to do it with a drill as I wouldn't be able to get it with the machine as its bolted down to a bench and the wheel doesn't over hang the bench by much.

I guess I gould get it brass plated then chromed if it didn't come out right.........or I could just paint it black and be done with it

I'v got one that I was going to polish WHEN I get time. It does'nt look too bad but will probabley have to use a drill on it.

The only thing with polishing it is it would really mate the coil packs and other grubby bits stand out and I'm not sure how well I could clean them up.

I guess I can have a go as I can always spray it black if it looks crap

You could also go a bit OTT with all the polished part's, maybe black would be better.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, I'm planning a FMIC and thats got polished pipes and one goes straight across rocker cover so it may be a bit OTT....I'll have to have a look when all my parts turn up
