Just take it in mate, mine have done the same and ive had them done three times so far. I did ask the dealer if i could take them away and spray them with lacquer but they said no. Have a look at R32 bades and RS4 etc as they make a nice change. They can be bought from awesome gti etc

I drive a 54 plate LCR and my R badges also look terrible, badly corroded and spoil an otherwise clean car. I approached my main dealer to see if they could be replaced under warranty, to be told that my car is too old, they started to corrode within the first year but I never bothered to raise it at the dealer until recently.

Sometimes you begin to wonder what the warranty is actually worth and I am sure other people on here have said they have had theirs replaced free by SEAT on cars that are nearly 3 years old!:(

Ring up Seat uk and report your dealer, your warrenty is ultimately with them.

I recon that is why the new Leon is not an 'R' they can't afford the badges LOL

To behonest I think it is the 'R' that makes the car

Thats life aint it, people love taking your money but don't like given anything back. Will try my local dealer in milton keynes tomorrow, they can only say no!
If not they aren't dear to replace.
What would look better the R badge or Cupra on the front grill of my LCR?

Don't pay for them!!!!

It will cost you enough once the warreny has run out.

Cupra on the front grill?????? no way you have paid for an R you have the performance of an R so it has to be an R (although I tried it and it did not look so good IMHO)

Thanks for the tip off on the warranty I never thought of that! All mine are worn and car is only 2 years old! I will add this to my long list of warranty items which include rattle in boot, broken bonnet catch, and climate control fan whine!

Let us know what your dealer say mate about replacing your badges? If they do say yes to free replacements then I can go back to my dealer and say how come you won't do it when another garage says it is no problem!

Well guys, it's not good news.
Went to my local dealer, mentioned that my R badges look old and tired. One of the guys came & had a look at my motor, said he had seen worse for the year of car. When asked are they covered under warranty he said that Seat wouldn't replace them as they weren't bad enough (surprising considering on the n/s front you could hardly see the red any more).
He mentioned, usually what happens is they take pictures and send them to Seat UK and hope they replace them. Apparantly you can be waiting upto 4-5 weeks, said couldn't be bothered to wait that long only for them to say no.
So brought the badges only £21.00 and just spent the last hour removing the old and putting on the new ones. Looks fantastic now.
Well it's worth a try maybe trying to get them replaced under warranty, but i wouldn't hold your breath. They might be happier to replace on a newer car.
But did get some luck, while at the garage saw the local Chipsaway van so popped over and had a word with the guy if he could look at my rear door, as the previous owner didn't do a very good job touching in a car park scratch.
He must of put the paint on to thick, as stood out and always bothered me.
He put some cutting paste on it and used a bit of wet & dry, and hay presto completely gone. And only cost me a fiver!! Very happy bunny.
Hope you guys have better luck with your badges.

Now this is a surprise guys! After just reading, 225-Cupra-R-04's, last post it appears that there is either one rule for one dealer and one rule for another or it is just luck of the draw which dealer you visit?

Today I phoned a different dealer after my initial warranty claim for three new 'R' badges was rejected over the telephone. Refreshingly, the dealer I called today said it should be no problem. I was honest (as honesty is always the best policy!:) ) and told him that one dealer had already said no. The aftersales/parts manager said in view of this he would check with SEAT UK and call me back. Later this afternoon, he phoned me back and confirmed that SEAT will change the badges under warranty, the even better bit was that I also mentioned that I have a flaking gearknob (paint peeling round badge at top) and he again said that is also a warranty item so a nice new one of those is also on order for me free of charge, result!:D

After learning this today, if anyone is in a similar position with their corroded badges I would be more persistent with the dealer or phone around if you have another dealer within reasonable distance.

I am really tempted to call the other garage tomorrow and query why they refused my claim when another garage was only too happy to help, might be a bit of an embarrasment for them!

I had 2 full sets of new R badges on warranty (they got the white 'bloom' on the red sections, together with a new CUPRA badge, as I was driving round in an "UPRA" for a while.

Also got a replacement gearknob, as mine had the black paint flaing off too.

Really does sound like it depends on the dealer you go to. I haven't had any problems with warranty claims.

Now the car is over 3 years old, I have debadged totally, except for an R on the back in the normal position.

Dealers are often, surprisingly, the cheapest for these! I think many people automatically assume the dealer will be expensive and eBay will be cheap, so they pay the eBay prices.

+1

I'm finding this with many SEAT parts. I always check with FifeSEAT first. LCR front spoiler came in at £19 and the badges were cheaper than eBay.

I bought 4 'R' badges off ebay. They were around £2 each (wernt OEM but could NOT tell the difference at all)
I went and bought some laquer, then applied 5 coats of laquer on them and stuck them on. Look good as new and that was 7 months ago! :D

Just paid £9.89 for a genuine one from ebay. Not received it yet so I will compare to the ones I already have and see.

I probably could get it cheaper but it was a impulse purchase at the time. :D
