Am I the only one a tad confused as to why there is an S3 posting in the Leon MK2 part of the site, when anything I post which is slightly off topic to the Leon seems to get moved to the basement of the site?

same engine tech which is useful to cupra guys?

It's a Garratt Gt2871R turbo with a nasty looking adapter plate for the downpipe, looking at some dyno's from the states it's making about 350-360 flywheel at 1.5bar held so probably about 50bhp more than standard remap. Not sure if thats worth 4k plus fitting??Don't like the way they have run the car in different gears makes the graphs impossible to compare.

The RS/S kit is only rated to 345bhp and 328lbft torque, so at a guess this guy is quoting the RS/R figures which are 401bhp and 352lbft, but the RS/R kit adds rods and pistons.

The stock turbo isn't capable of the figures mentioned. Sounds like typical Regal TBH.

The US figures of 350/300 were based on a GT2871R bolted to a standard 200ps 2.0T engine.

S3's as you know has better internals so can cope with a bit more boost.

Whether this translates into 400+bhp is another matter. It's supposed to only run 21psi anyway in this kit. Regal only got theirs to be near 400bhp via a wee shot of NOS.

The 500+bhp GTI VFE has is using a GT3071R.

If you look at the regal graph it's making no where near 1.5bar held to redline so there goes your internals theory.
GT2871R turbo's are a bit of a mismatch really ,the hotside is very small ,400bhp is a real struggle ,add that aweful adapter etc and no chance in my opinion.I think this kit is running about 350-360bhp.
A Proper GT3071R would struggle to top 460bhp and that is with 2+bar boost, even a gt3076R at 2bar held only just makes 500 with the right bolt -ons.

well his car was making 350+ on the K04 BEFORE the jump to GT28...so you saying he's not really got a lot more for the £5k+ he's just shelled out lol.

Or perhaps it wasn't making 350+ beforehand.....

In my opinion it was making 300/310 on the k04 and now it's making 350/360.
Have you actually seen a new k04 ?There is no way it will make 350.
He has gained 50bhp for £5k.
I would have stuck with the original 310 remap stage.

well seeing as the gt28 doesn't refer to the compressor wheel size that is pretty impressive.

A k04 is slightly smaller than a stock gt28r, remember them?Think they use one of these cartridges in the eliminators and guess what they produce about 300-315bhp flat out.funny that.

might be called a k04 but side by side they aint going to be the same.
200cc of displacement is not the difference here.

Lol you guys are pretty funny!

You can believe what you like, it seems like a few of you have no idea what power these S3's are actually making, the turbo I have is a GT2871R with a .86 hotside which is non standard.. Hence the increased power over the standard RS/S numbers, also with the S3 running stronger internals the engine is being pushed slightly further..

Comparing power made on the 1.8T to the 2.0T FSI is completely pointless, its a completely different engine.. Also the K04 on the 1.8T and the K04 found on the 2.0T are completely different, for starters the 2.0T K04 is a twin scroll turbo..

What are you basing your estimates of power on exactly? Figures made with K04 and GT28 turbos on a 1.8T?? If so then you need to do a little research..

You may want to have a quick look at the VF Engineering site..

More like 385BHP & 350FT/LBS for the RS/S and 485bhp & 410FT/LBS for the RS/R
