Still would be nice to have both lights working, if anything just for overkill lol
I've noticed you do get a lot of looks similar tofrom cars behind when you engage reverse cracks me up every time

BTW - Doesn't it turn on any warning lights or computer notes in the car?
Mine has arrived this evening. Literally just fitted it with a small issue. When it's plugged in and the car is unlocked / running it flashes like a strobe light.
When it's plugged in I am getting a 6v supply to the socket. But if you plug a normal bulb back in the 6v feed goes away. Is this canbus working? And does yours flash Dan?

Reverse light is not canbus ( take bulb out completely and select reverse with ignition on ) - the light out warning will not come on.
I think you have another issue there.
Mine was also fitted tonight - no issues at all - nice bright white reverse light.
Check your new led on a 12v supply to see if it lights up correctly.

it sounds like your car has to be checked for electrical issues like leak.
Well that depends on which model you have.

I've had no warning lights since I've been using mine.
Hmm that's strange, don't know why its doing that I've had no issues at all with mine. Maybe somebody on here will be able to tell us why your car has turned into a bad disco

Just been out to check mine again. No problems.
Engine running or not - select reverse - solid light.
Close car - arm alarm - indicators flash - no reverse light flashing.
Did you by any chance get the light cluster bulb holder wet when changing the bulb in the rain ?
Sounds like you have a partial short across the tracks on the light cluster.
Water is really good for this.
Mine doesn't do that. It only comes on when in reverse and is off with engine running in neutral. You could try taking it out and turning it around
AFAIK the reverse light is not CANBUS.
Well funnily enough it's pretty dry out tonight so that counts out getting it wet

After taking the key out of the ignition and leaving the car for five min it stops flashing. But as soon as you unlock the car or open the door it starts flashing again.
Ah I have had a thought. Are you guys all FRs? Without DSG? The reverse light switch on the FR is controlled by a normal switch in the gearbox, where as the reverse light on the DSG is done via relay. When you stop the car some of the electrical systems that use relays have a supply voltage to them still incase they need to be used, EG electric folding mirrors, and the front windows, which means that the LED which is much more sensitive to small amounts of voltage is picking up this supply.

Personally I wouldn't worry. The only person who might have some thing to say is the mot man. Doubt any one else will notice.
As far as I know there are no MOT rules saying what you can and can't use in the reverse light, but I may be wrong
I'm not sure if the reverse light is part of the MOT test but what they certainly won't do is open up the lamp unit and check the bulb for E marks. If you're concerned them simply put OEM type bulbs back in for the MOT test.

So, before I order one for the 3dr SC with DSG has anybody fitted one successfully without the flashing issues?
Got my bulb delivered day before yesterday. Will hopefully fit it today and report back. Dont anticipate any problems as like Deano I have a manual gearbox.
Looks as if the flashing reverse light problem is somehow linked to the wiring in cars with the DSG box... Bummer!
