OK, bit more info/update
After resetting the fuel settings (to pre-rebuild figures) I took the car on a ~150 mile drive to continue running it in.
On the last 50 miles home the car was intermittently misfiring very badly under load before my EML lit up the dash.
Got it home to check codes and fresh fuel trim figures after 150 miles to find:
The car smells like it's running rich and the exhaust tip is coked black after just a couple of hundred miles so the lean error confuses me a little...unless it's a consequence of a f**ked pre-cat lambda that's only intermittently working?
New set of plugs on order just to tick these off the list, along with a wideband sensor to see if I can get some proper readings.
Thoughts?

i have the 17522 fault code to and found that one wire just near the contact was ripped off.So have to fix that.MIne is running fine and us very little fuel.
So this is the hate part you were telling me about yeah . I know my MAF sensor shat itself after I rebuilt - what does it do when you run the car with it unplugged?

That'll be it Joe. Tempted to try MAF as it's a possible symptom of a couple of codes I've had now - process of elimination I guess, though I've had these lambda ones for a while - even before the rebuild when fuelling was fine.
Could try:
1. Inspect lambda wiring
2. Replace wideband sensor to try and get some proper readings to guide me
3. Replace plugs
4. Unplug/replace MAF
Shame you couldn't come out with the car running to it's true potential - last night was a million miles away from that. I'll get there...

No problem - was good to put a name to a face none the less. What sort of BHP did you think it was running yesterday? I just loved that whine
Just remember when unplugging MAF it can mask other faults too but it's a good indication. I remember mine was stalling at junctions and misfiring when a "plugging" bolt popped out of a manifold pipe I deleted. Mind you it was pretty obvious and sounded like a V8 too
One thing I notice you're not checking which might be worth a look is the OEM narrowband lambda sensor - that code points to the OEM one.
Also just thought I have a brand new wideband sensor you could of tried yesterday!

The whine is awesome, I love it
Probably barely over 200 last night with the misfiring - not much at all. Max MAF reading scales to ~230 BHP atm when running properly, which it wasn't.
No worries, my new wideband sensor should be arriving early next week

Yeh ported AYP small port by JP Phil
Currently tucked the car up in the garage until I can be assed to look at it again - it's been pissing me off royally over the past week or so...
On two occasions now when the car's been left standing for 3+ days it's dumped the entire contents of the water/meth bottle into my charge pipework, pooling in the intercooler
This has meant I've had to un-do the pipework at the FMIC exit and start the car to rev it out, watching litres of water/meth come spewing out of the intercooler onto the drive.
Enough is enough with Devil's Own kit - I'll be swapping it out for AEM soon. I just can't trust it when it's such a critical component.
I'm also waiting on a new set of plugs and a new wideband sensor to see if these make any difference and I'll inspect the colour of my current plugs when we whip them out to see what indication they give me. Once I'm happy with the fuelling I'll continue to run it in before taking it over to Bill for any necessary tweaks to the map.

Keep the faith robbie, i know how you feel. Im just gettin the bug back again to do stuff to mine after months of neglect and not bothering.
Im still toying with using my head and porting it rather than trying to find a largeport head.

Uh oh *queue for some major disagreements on largeport vs smallport dispute*
You'll get there with it - at least you can ignore it as you have a daily, think what i've got in store for me.
Has that wideband not turned up yet? As I say offer still stands if you want to have mine (and I'll have your replacement when it comes). Brand new still if you can come and collect it.

Dale's busy getting his Corsa rebuilt for PV this weekend so it gives us both a break from it until next week when we can take another look and get things sorted.
Have a look at post #932 onwards (page 47-48) for Alex/JP's, Bill's and Issam's views on smallport vs largeport, which seems to focus around volume vs velocity. A large port can flow more, but the gases in the ported small port will move faster which is also an important factor to consider, though many don't perceive large port as noticeably laggy in comparison.
For your powerband you might find a large port more beneficial, I'm not sure as it is application specific and you're using a very different turbo. Mine is built with an eventual goal of high 300, low 400 power figures with minimal lag.
I missed the delivery on the plugs and wideband sensor Joe but am going to pick them up from the depot this week, thanks all the same

Same kit yeah. Possibly, but it's not the first issue I've had with this kit and I'm not comfortable with the fact it offers no redundancy if it fails. The AEM kit appears much more polished - I've built the car with all the best bits I can find to make it as reliable as possible and DO just doesn't cut it

I agree, i would not buy the Devil's own kit again, no redunancy scares me especially with the amount of timing added for WMI, mine has stopped working for no apparent reason on occasion, i shorted it to ground and then it magically worked again.
I think i need to switchable map like the Scoobies Valet mode.

I have to be honest all the AEM stuff ive used or have seen has been superb. My AEM wideband setup has been fautless so far.
