ill be changing to a 3" feed soon as i feel the IHI is not happy sucking through such a small feed.

I would just like to say a big thanks for all the advice I've received off you lot :D

I've always liked the standard look of a car but now I've got the MOD BUG (an older boy racer)

Got the brakes to paint when the weather warms up (I've had the paint 3 months now and with being an ex-painter; it shouldnt be too hard a job)

Dump valve looks/sounds good/easy to do next, I'll investigate the cost now......

:funk:

Yup, good thread this.

Saved me having to trawl or search the forums for a few minor mods Im wanting to do to my imminent purchase. (2005 1.8T 180 FR...13,000km on the clock)

Woah, just realised I opened this account 5 years ago and never posted :)

Woah, I've been to Gib WITOR.....not a bad little place/night out :funk:
I bet the sandy dust gets everywhere in your car!!! :censored:

Yep its cool enough.

You been recently? (as in last 3 months) whole new leisure centre and marina complex is opening...

Mind you there's always spain 5 mins away for a true pissup :)

I have a cone filter with two cold air feeds running to it and without a shadow of a doubt on hot days my motor still suffers from heatsoak seems to take a big gulp before it goes.i dont have an upgraded dv but do you guys reckon this is a must? cheers.

wild stab but..

i dont think the sound is coming from the dump valve, its a recirc, so is silent. your hearing the sound of the induction/filter releasing the air it was sucking in just before you let off.
as the forge works better at passing air than the standard one, theres more flow bypassing the turbo and being released from the filter.
i had this dv on my saab 900 turbo. people use to think i had an atmospheric dv which it didnt, infact i couldnt use an atmospheric dv as it would over fuel.
(i think recircs are better as you dont get a stupid sound @ normal driving conditions)

dont suppose anyone wants to swap a hyperboost dv for a forge 007 do they?????? ive got the hyperboost one with a bmc, the bmc sounds immence but cant hear a f**kin thing from the hyperboost!

so all in all a cold air feed is needed we all agree air box or open cone.

but where to fit it to get best gains???????

and also in my opinion im sure you will only get heat soak at a standstill start which i feel isnt a bad thing as when you accelerat the air is rushing in through everyhole it can get in and cooling your engine bay down so surely a cold air intake some sort of heat sheild even tin foil home made on a bit of card with cold air feed should be the best by far...............

I know mine's a N/A engine but i pick up my cold air from below the drivers side headlight....
