Like this for me, but would still be tempted to go with black grill surround as I just don't like the current SEAT 'dog nose' grille badge. Would hide it better.

At least with it being wrapped if you didn't like it you can peel and forget.

Good to see you on the mod train at last.

I have the black grill surround, that picture was taken before it was fitted. :)

If I did the bonnet as well as the roof I wouldn't have it down on the front bumper as well like the pic you posted above. It would be like this pic (below) but with the roof and wheels:

Are you going for gloss or matte?

Ok spent some time tonight doing a better photoshop of what I've decided to go for.

It still looks a bit matte and I'm still wondering if that would look better than gloss on the wheels and roof, althouth the mirrors and door strips are gloss of course. Thoughts? Gloss or Matte?

It's tough making decisions like this!

must admit i'm liking the matte against the metallic

gloss looks good too but against the extra deep shiny glossy colours like red/white etc

Only trouble with matte is the clash with the mirrors, B pillars and the grille which are all glossy. They would need respraying or covering too which could end up looking a bit naff.

A gloss vinyl will look more striking I think.

Booked the car in for next Tuesday to get the wheels done. Going for gloss at the moment but could change my mind at the wheel place when I see the display finishes :)

Had a new idea for the film :D Let me know what you think (if you can spot it) ;)

Subtle - I like it. At first I thought it would just make the car look higher off the ground, but flicking backwards and forwards between the images, it looks more "finished".

Well, the wheels are now done :D

Got up bright and early this morning and headed over the bridge into sunny Wales. I needed to be at the wheel place for 8am and I made it there at one minute past which wasn't bad considering I had to drag myself out of bed with a bad back.

My wheel company of choice were these guys: http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/ after recommendations elsewhere on the forums and being only half-an-hour away.

They spent all day on my wheels, prepping (soaking them in acid for hours) to strip everything off, then shotblasting them, sanding down the edges and then powder coating them in gloss black. They really took their time and while the wheels were off I took the opportunity to spray my hubs and give my calipers a good polish and jetseal.

The guys there were really passionate about what they do and were obvious perfectionists. So much so that I'm going to make the trip in future for them to fit new tyres for me (I would provide the tyres - they are not a tyre stockist). They actually take proper care unlike most tyre fitting companies I have experienced in the past.

I'd like to write a full detailed description of the day but I'm knackered at the moment. I forgot to take my camera so I've only got some crappy phone pics that do not under any stretch of the imagination do them any justice. The finish of the wheels is 100 times better than when they were brand new. I would highly recommend them and if you mention the forum they've kindly agreed a 15% discount. :)

The heavens opened on the way home unfortunately so now they're all dirty.

I'll try and wash the car at the weekend and get some decent pics up. Meanwhile here's some for now:

Very very happy with the results. They look awesome on the car. Just need to give it all a clean again now! They are going to be dust magnet as well I can tell!

If you have been debating getting your wheels powder coated. Do it. You won't regret it!

looking good mate, i like the idea of a matte roof but agree with a couple of points/queries , firstly how easy it would be to clean and would it clash, i would probably go gloss to play it safe safe tbh :)

Ta. I spoke to the vinyl company and they recommend just normal car shampoo and water to clean it. Doesn't need anything special. This is the stuff they use on commercial vehicles.

I suppose it could clash depending on the other colours of your car. As Z says above, I'm glad I've gone gloss now as it matches the mirrors and the door strip.

Yes very happy although it was peeing down when I left so all my hard work in the morning took a hammering.

Steve mentioned a vinyl company in your neck of the woods that would be worth looking into instead of having to make the journey to Birmingham or Southampton. Do you know who they are / could you ask Steve and let me know?

Cheers,

Scott
