Hi,

Whats the general opinion regarding upgrading the T.I.P?

and any other pipe/hose ext. Do you get any performance gains?

Or is it just realy for track perposes?

Cheers!

James

Do it and you won't have to worry about this collapsing under higher boost at high rev's.
You might get a little better throttle response but its more what you won't loose rather than what you will gain

Did my t.i.p 2 weeks ago and its feels stronger in the mid/top of the rev range and i feel it has better throttle resposne ,but you should have seen the state of the one i took off !!.money well spent in my book as it was on the point of failure plus i found i split in the y pipe on the oil breather system so i bought the upgraded pipe from vw bristol as the had it in stock.

I did quite a bit of research into this and I think it's worthwhile when you remap your car - much in the same way that you change your bosch dv for the forge one. I think they are the two weak points in the system and being in front of the turbo are under quite a lot of stress when the boost is increased.

Should be getting mine changed during my service this summer - funds permitting...

the hoses on the car are probably ok when new but for a remaped car with a few miles id defiantly go for one, they standard ones can collapse under high boost and try and suck into the turbo, closing up the air flow gap and loosing power... better turbo spool up sound, free flowing and wont collapse at high boost.+ the standard ones are like made out of chocolate cake.

Thats excatly why I changed mine :D

Am i wrong in thinking the collapse of the TIP is reduced if you have an induction kit? i.e less resistance on the air being "sucked"

(i might be trying to talk myself out of spending MORE money) ;)

That would make sense but I think it would still perish over time so would need changing at some point. Just get your VAG tuner to feel each time you're in for a service or whatever...

Looks like i might need to purchase one ... just went to "cop a feel" and its soft as butter ;)

(waiting for the comeback from that sentence now)

Dont forget about the little high temp elbow off the turbo too, some people off here had them fail.
I am still running standard map and have last piece of boost piping on order.
Cuts down places for boost leak from, a sort of piece of mind as already had standard TIP fail
