Just had my TDI 130 serviced. Previously the garage used VW500.00/VW502.00 spec oil but have now used Castrol SLX Longlife III SW-30 VW504.00/VW507.00. Is this ok to use as they did not appreciate or undertstand my question/concerns when my handbook states VW500.00/VW502.00.
bearing in mind the FR is new next week, if i put it in for warranty service (IE keep the warranty valid) will they put the right oil in?? or do i need to tell them????
Service will prob be done at "the motorist centre" in Canterbury - ex main dealer, but still doing everything except selling new cars
make sure u tell them it needs PD oil , and when u get the receipt check for "PD oil" says that on my seat receipts , either that or supply your own millers oil, is only 25 quid for 5 litres- around half price

In theory the 504.00/507.00 is a higher spec oil than PD oil and should go into the new FR (170hp) engines. I have spoken to Quantum and they said that despite the higher spec only put oil matching 505.01 into a PD engine.
So for conventional PD engines look for 505.01 spec, you know you are OK with that. Your dealer was definately putting the wrong oil in originally and is now putting oil in that should be OK (though not recommended) and more expensive than 505.01
If you had it done at a dealer, Id start to kick up a major fuss with Seat UK now mate. That oil may have done some long term damage that may not be evident yet, especially if it was in there for 10k...
