you need vag com to do throttle reset matey, sorry

Turn the key on but do not start the car.

[Select]
[01 - Engine]
[Measuring Blocks - 08]
Group 098 (Note: Some SIMOS or Marelli ECU's use Group 001 such as ADY & AEE engines)
[Go!]
[Switch to basic settings]
Once you do this you will see the top right display say ADP RUN. The TB adaptation is being done as soon as you switch to basic settings. You will see the values change and hear the TB cycle for the first few seconds then it will stop. Leave it in Basic Settings for about 30 seconds.
[Switch to Meas. Blocks] button and you're all set.

Be sure not to touch the accelerator and make sure the engine is NOT running when you do this!

It has been said that cleaning your throttle body will help out engine performance. It could help remove hesistation, steady an erratic idle and increase responsiveness of your engine.

The general concencous is to clean it every 30k - 40k miles.

You're going to need

5mm Allen key for the throttle body bolts

Flat head screwdriver for the jubilee clip

Cotton buds

Cloth

Carb cleaner (5er from Halfords)

Unbolt the 4 bolts labelled 1 to 4 in red with a 5mm Allen key. There are 2 bolts underneath which are a little tricky to get to. But a little patience and they will come out. Dont drop them inside your engine bay though!

Unscrew the jubilee clip but dont take it off completely. You can slide it down the big black hose to save it for later.

With the jubilee clip loosened, pull the hose off the throttle body and move it somewhere safe and out of the way.

Once everything is unscrewed and unbolted. Pull the TB off its connection. It comes off easily.

Once everything is cleaned up and spotless. Reassemble the throttle body the same way you took it off.

If you can get access to Vagcom to do a throttle body alignment, here is the how-to from the www.Ross-tech.com site

Procedure for performing a Throttle Body Alignment on Cable-Throttle Cars:
These are cars with a physical cable between the accelerator and the throttle, but WITHOUT an ISV.

Turn the key on but do not start the car.

Interesting, you know this thread is 6 months old,:p and im sure its group 60[B)] well on my vag-com i know it is.

It is group 60 on the drive by wire engines. It's a different procedure if there is a throttle cable.

Check Ross Tech's website for the correct procedure for your engine.

If you dont unplug the throttle body while you clean it you dont need to do a re-alignment, i took it off but left it plugged in and cleaned it and replaced the gasket

Worked a treat!!

I know this has already been covered and i've read most of the threads on this but wasnt sure on a definite answer. And have it in bits now so wanted to know before putting it back together!

I've taken mine off to be greeted with this:

Can't believe how dirty it is! looks worse than ones ive seen on here.

Two questions, can i open the flap anyhow to clean the bit next to the flap? and should i clean slightly inside the inlet manifold(after where the TB is)?
