Traction Control Light won't turn off and Glow Plug light is flashing too :(

Drove to work this morning and noticed after a couple of minutes driving that the TCS light was on. I pressed the button a couple of times and nothing happened. I pulled over and restarted the car, but the light stayed on.

I pressed the traction control light a couple more times, and the glow plug light started to flash and contiuned to do so for the rest of my journey :(

I've done a search on the forum and understand the TCS light may be due to a broken wire, and the flashing glow plug light may be related to a fault with the brake sensor or break lights.

However, what's going on with both of these things happening at the same time? Is this indicative of a different problem?

I've has the following work done to the car recently (all at a Seat Dealer):

Nearside rear wheel baring replaced (one month ago)
Replacement nearside front alloy and tyre (1 week ago) due to kerbing it pretty badly in order to avoid an accident.
Replacement nearside brake light (1 week ago)

For a car that had it's 4th birthday 2 days ago, it seems to be spending a lot of time in the Seat garage of late.

Thanks for your help :)

I'd immagine it will be either a brake light bulb or the brake light switch that is mounted on the brake pedal - they tend to be very unreliable.

reminds me when both my brake lights had blown - i hadnt noticed it was only when the stealer rang me up on a routine service - they wanted to connect to the computer (VAG) to see what was wrong and charge me £90. i asked them if they had tried changing the bulbs yet? they hadnt!!!!

Hi sorry to be thick, but mine has developed the exactly the same problem and for the avoidance of any doubt did this turn both lights out???

Seems very strange if it does but hey its a cheap quick fix!

Cheers for the advice boys (and maybe girls?!).

Today, within 5 miles, I had the traction control warning light come on and then the flashing glow-plug warning light. As I was only going around a round-about, and I was stuck driving through Salisbury plain, I decided to pull into a pub car park and check the forum before before calling the RAC.

Thanks to this thread I decided to check the break lights and low-and-behold both sides were out!!

I then decided to drive to the nearest Halfords (which was 16 miles away) to get some more bulbs and the problem has now gone away (for the time being atleast!!).

Cheers for the constant friendly advice on this forum and I hope that this thread come in handy for other in the future.
