This morning when I started the car the USB port by the gear selector no longer does anything, telephone button produces an error saying "telephone currently unavailable" and Nav button produces an error saying "function not supported" even though I've never touched the SD card with the map data on it. Is there a software update or reset I can do to fix this? I've tried the long press on the power button and factory settings in the menu but had no success.

Well apart from a socket working loose in the heat, sounds like a dry joint or something. Reckon component failure in the unit.
Ok thanks, how do you go about removing the glovebox unit to check? From what I can gather that seems to be the brains of the MiB so wouldn't the loose connection or failed component be in there?
Amazon mib2 tools and YouTube video. Mine were Keple listed as suitable for VW. You'd just push them all on tight to check. There are videos of how to use the keys.
No coins dropping in via the SD slot. Thats another area. But may well be components breaking down.
My task was getting something out of the CD slot... did it.
Seat Plus. Walone has made me aware that the Seat Navigation site now has a 176 release on it, whilst the latest is 177. This seems to be a quarterly update three months behind the June 2019 release 177. The freeze date of 176 is three months before 177. It interestingly has an Excel sheet on it showing changes from 172 (sic). Suspect they didn't mean to put that on it but gives a clue to who they use to prepare the release files .

I think you might be disappointed for DIY, you have to determine whether it's a mib2 standard along the lines

you need it so say 6P0.
Press the “NAV” Button > Confirm the “Setup” > “Version information” selection on the display.
Check the first text line in "Version information". If the first three digits are 6P0, your system version is the "Navi System - 6P0". If not, your system is the "Navi System Plus".

If mib1 standard it's a paid job via the dealer. Mib1 or 2 plus or get the unit converted into a retrofit from a specialist then it will be DIY thereafter.
You are out of luck for DIY solutions for Mib1 SD card navigation. For the duration of the thread there were a few incidents when people several years back seemed able to do their own updates buying ebay cards. Others followed suite but could not replicate. May be those cars had Mapcare on the unit. Nobody got to the bottom of why it worked for some and not others.
Mib2 SD card navigation there is the Exciter workaround method but you must have an activated SD card in the first place for that. i.e. a working card in the unit. People who buy a car without the card or the infotainment unit without the card need to pay out for it to be activated.
That leaves Mib2 High, the Seat Plus model, without Mapcare you need to get it modded to a Retrofit then you can do the updates yourself. The Croyden people for that. Of future interest to all Ateca Cupra owners in years to come
.Hey, just a heads up. I lost my maps by accident. Leon 63 plate. Went to seat, quoted £120+. Looked around a few forums. Found a guy who had uploaded the contents of his Leon 63 SD card. Downloaded extracted and all working. But I spent about 7 days straight trawling through forums and I don't even use the seat maps any more they're out of date and system is shocking.
My advice would be, get a phone holder for your car and download waze.... It's the dogs bollocks!
I find Waze laggy as hell when used through Android Auto, Google maps works brilliantly though.
But to both, Google Maps including Waze can be as crappy as the cartography of Tom Tom found on the standard mib2 Vag system or Here Maps on the mib2 High (Plus). I contribute to all three plus Openstreet. Google Maps use old sat images so crowd sourcing fails on new roads and estates. You are waiting for the survey cars to come round for that one. True Google is good for commercial Pois and real time traffic information, lousy if you travel in the country / mountains with no 4G. Navigation of exits in tunnels or just outside is lousy if the navigation isn't built into the car. Doesn't give you the digital dash heads up of next turns. Horses for courses.
I use the Android app N45, E25 Map Coordinates app to peak a boo into Google Maps and Street View, that generates the Degrees Minutes and Seconds the onscreen cog wheel of the car uses for coordinates (configurable in the app). The app also gives you Openstreet cartography as well as Googles, swap layer view. Openstreet, plus it's for outdoor activities like hiking and camping, so you'll find car parks on there you won't find anywhere else. Using coordinate input you get exactly to where you want to go for outdoor activities. Google Pois can be less than accurate, shops placed in the wrong place of retail developments. The peak a boo part of N45, E25 through linked Streetview means you can walk the Google car images and map before you get there (looking for the hotel car park entrance etc).
Destinations I plan to go to a lot I import the Pois via Poinspector together with the speed cameras, going a step further with the destination POI of then saving it as a destination. It's an old mib trick of getting destinations into the cars system without using the cog wheel input. That's how I migrated my Co-pilot destinations into the mib2 unit via the two phase trick when moved over to the built in sat nav.

Then you have Bing Maps SDK for UK Ordance Survey maps. That's an APK app thats been taken off Playstore these days. That can be cross referenced for outdoor activities. Other free track generating programs give access to OS maps as well and its also on Bing Maps on all platforms. Google haven't cornered the market on navigation. Other countries local national cartography provider digital maps (Ordance Survey equivalent) can often be found for free when planning outdoor activity holidays if you search long enough to cross reference with the rest.

MY19 (One of the first Copper 'S' / 7sp / GPF ST versions); assume standard Navi System, but recall having read that there are some nuances with this unit/software:

What is the latest software for this device? It was supposed to have been updated during the recent service, but I'm not convinced that it was. The only noticeable software differences post service appear to be with the DSG: when using paddles, the throttle blip on down shift is nowhere as prominent as it was before service, and the gear changes are much smoother (perhaps reflash of the mechatronic unit?).
Also, are the maps updated as part of the 'SEAT Campaign and Software Updates'? If not, which SEAT maps are peeps downloading in UK for this unit? (I assume that ECE1 refers to map pack 1, but this doesn't include Germany, which is one of my most likely destinations, along with France, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Austria). Or are peeps using the VW maps?
To be honest, I usually use Waze, but just want to make sure that the car is up to date. Much easier using the phone app for the Audi - any chance that SEAT will re-introduce an app of their own like VW, Audi and Skoda?

Download the maps from the VW site, they have some more sensible options.
Thanks - I assume that it will be the Discover Media Updates from the Golf R 2017 onwards variant? My vehicle also has the latest hardware version of the digital dash that displays the Nav, so don't really want to frag it at the first attempt.
That's the one, there's more detail in this thread somewhere but basically the process is as follows
Download the file you want and unzip using 7zip
Copy the contents of your current SD card as a backup
Delete the maps directory on the SD card
Copy the 'maps' folder from the downloaded unzipped file to the SD card
Copy the original 'OVERALL.NDS' into maps\EEC\EEC_WLD on the SDcard
Insert the SDcard into the unit and reboot
If it doesn't work, restore from your backup files...
