What else would be damaged if you had a damaged front strut?

On my bought brand new mk4 fr tdi there has been found damage to the strut (bent) and possibly the stud axle,

if you had smacked something so hard that it would cause that damage what damage to other wheel assembly parts do you reckon you would find. As no other parts are damaged, they are fine.

Also is there a way to check from part codes etc the manufacture date of parts on your car, i have not changed any parts on the car, they are all original (at least from when i bought it brand new)

I somehow have to prove that i have not changed any parts and that they are all what i bought the car with, down to the tyres i havent changed any parts, its only just on 6k miles.

the response i got from the dealer was "im not calling you a liar but prove you didnt cause the damage"

The serial numbers on the parts should either have a little grid to show the date manufactured, or at least a serial number with contain their batch number which youll be able to find the date from. I would concentrate on the wheels and tyres as they would be the main victim of such damage.

Check these codes with the opposite side of the car, make sure theyre all before its manufactured date etc.

It might be worth getting a professional technician to look at it and write you a written report.

Not too far away
I had a bent bit on the back of my leon. I noticed it when I picked it up and one of the rear wheels had a savage level of toe in on it!

Turns out the monkeys had anchored it to the boat by using a chain over something they shouldn't have! When the ratcheted it down it bent something fundamental!

yea one of my mates is an assessor for insurance companies looks at damage and causes of it all day long he said hed do me an observation and engineer report on it.

the main thing is that the wheel and tyre were fine, brand new, so im pretty sure that some parts were damaged and have been replaced where the more deeper hidden away parts (strut, stud axle) werent replaced. Ive rung seat UK and they are doing a marina history check to see if anythings happened, thats as far as ive got so far

they rang me back, according to them there is not marina history on the car, i asked him what if every check you do comes back with no history and something did happen and it wasnt logged, im still stuck with a car that has, according to a seat main dealer, been damaged by " a significant impact"

i only want the thing fixed, i dont want a new one, money back or anything, just fixing, which if i wanted could string trading standards along for a like for like replacement which seeing as i bought it new would be a brand new FR again etc etc which i found out under the sale of goods act or something i could do and the nice girl at citizens advice said i should look at it, i want it fixed, which i dont thiks unreasonable

he said seat go by facts not words, that made me pretty angry.

Gutted for you mate.

I had repeated problems with my local stealer with my FR - they clearly hadn't PDI'd the car properly and it was in a **** state - missing badges, overspray o nthe front bumper etc etc.

The service department weren't interested and I'm afraid to say that SEAT UK were completely useless - as soon as you try and push them to resolve an issue, they just tell you that the dealers are franchised and there's nothing they can do!! :wtf:

I'd advise writing a letter to either the MD of SEAT UK or the MD of SEAT in Spain - in my experience you just won't get anywhere otherwise

im really just in the correspondance stage at the moment, as i cant be affording a load of stripdowns, engineer reports etc unless they are entirely necessary, not only the costs of them, the time it takes that i cant be working,

it sounds to me like thay are really trying to find someone else to blame at the moment, theyve checked their stuff "and didnt find anything" (how do i know they arent lying too) and now trying to pass the blame onto the dealer i bought the car off

and any work i do get i will be claiming back from seat themselves.
