I put one of those dehumidifier things in the car a month or two ago after sealing the wiring loom.

I’ve got the same in there but I think it’s still leaking. Carpets are still as wet

Most times I get in the car, I'm convinced that there's still water getting in because there's water coming up through the driver's heel pad, but don't forget that the sound deadening in the footwells is basically a sponge, so it's going to be sitting in there a while - especially in this weather.

Have you tried cat litter yet? I put a few scoops of Catsan* on the worst areas and it did suck up a fair bit.


*other brands of cat litter are available.

Ah, nice. That'll do it. I've been wanting to get a wet vac on the whole car to be honest - if you get a chance it'd be great to hear how you get on.

I found a wet spot in my boot the other day on the passenger side, there was water running along the edge.

When i got my car i actually found a puddle of water by the rear light, ive got a couple of reasons to strip the entire interior but i reaaally dont want to.

I've been getting water in my boot recently too. I've been keeping some big bottles and all of my cleaning stuff in there recently, so it's possible they've just attracted moisture and condensation and that's where it's come from, but when I changed the boot interior light for an LED one a while back, I noticed that the fitting had some corrosion around it, so who knows.

It's pretty reassuring we're all having much the same problems to be honest - although I'm not too happy about the prospect of my clutch pedal snapping anytime soon. Those threads stop me sleeping at night.

Yeah when i got the. car the rear washer wasnt connected and i assumed that it was running into a pocket of metal by the rear light, i cleared it and i havnt had any significant wetness since then but like i said before my footwells are always just slightly moist to the touch so i know its not air tight. And now ive found water in the boot, defo worth inspecting.

Oh the clutch thread, yeah funny you said that because lately i kept getting flashbacks of it so now i treat my pedal like its made of cheese hahah

Mine seems to be leaking from the rear lights

Sounds like a typical day in the MK1 :) something always plays up! Yesterday I popped into the shop after work. Boot was fine at work, go to put shopping in and the boot catch fwkd ...sigh
 
Got bored so checked some hoses for splits and decided to spray my charge pipe black.
Not the best job but better than the oil stained look it had previously.

If the hoses under the scuttle are anything to go by, they do get a bit brittle over the years. I'm going to pay some attention to the wheel wells in the boot, as I'm pretty sure my 12v has never worked since I've owned the car and I'd like to clean the contacts for the light.

I'm going to have a rest for a few days after the MoT - that totally stressed me out because if the car failed, it would have been all on me - but now I've got a bit of confidence back.

Just the two sets of control arm bushes, steering rack bush and dogbone mount...

And then I can finally get round to doing the turbo vanes...

Holy crap - this stuff never ends...

No sense treating the pedal as though it's made from cheese - the whole car *is* made of cheese.

And I'm lactose intolerant.

Clutch pedal does what?! And there was me being a little concerned I may have to bleed the clutch line (it's playing silly feckers from time to time, won't fully return)

Stripped out the rear bench n did a little experiment to see if I could cope without a stereo on the commute. It went well so may soon be selling my interior

Oh yeah - apparently they just snap - just like that. Now I'm terrified of changing gears - just driving everywhere in first gear these days.

Honestly, this forum is great in so many ways, but it's like looking up your medical symptoms on Google and everything comes up as cancer.
