Owen got an amazing last run in his car running on fumes - it all came together for him in the end, and he totally deserved the time

. I was behind him in my car when I saw him go to the start with several short bursts up to the line to heat up the tyres, a wide line on the track away from the usual line, and his car burst off the line at an amazing pace. He had been texting and calling on Saturday night when he was out practising with his new gadget which measures accelaration by GPS (something I will need to borrow from him when he goes offshore next), and his runs got better and stronger as the day went on yesterday. I am genuinely delighted for Owen
My best time was via a 2.219 60 foot start, terminal speed of 115.1mph vs Owens 2.118 60 foot start and terminal speed of 112.8mph.
I have never managed a 2.11 second 60 foot time - big respect on that one. Looks like a combination of, lots of practice, good technique, an amazing launch and Owens new R-1R's did the trick.
I was using brand new tyres yesterday which had never turned a wheel until a launch on the 1/4 mile, and it was only by the end that they were in some sort of decent condition for launches at which point my car had all DanGB and Jo's gear (up staying with me on holidays), my own two spare wheels and kit as well as a few things from some other cars, so they never really got a proper chance by the time I had done the demo runs in the MK2 LCR. I was surprised by my 115+ mph runs considering my new brakes which are 1.5mm too wide, were binding slightly, but then again the car was lighter than last time to the tune of almost 50kg with 22kg of that being rolling mass.
I expect Owens WOT box may well be tuned to change quicker than last time too (never asked him, but I am sure he will advise), and he will be used to it where last time he wasnt. He also had a racing seat and a Twintercooler over his last trip down.
My Revo settings were Boost 9, Timing 7 and Fuel 6. In hindsight, maybe I should have used timing at 6 as it was quite warm.
As it happens, Owen and I both have out WMI kits today, so next time will see a run with Boost 9, Timing 9 and Fuel 5. Not sure how much difference top speed will be, but I need to improve my launch as Owen has prooved it can be done, and perhaps speed up my gearchanges, maybe by way of fitting a WOT box (slippery slope time again

)
