Hi people,

I am very new to this site, However i am very serious about becoming a Seat owner. Just need some advice on what to buy? I know i want an mk4 Ibiza, but do i have the 1.4tdi or do i have a 1.4 (petrol) sport. I would like a 1.9tdi but cant afford the insurance. I have 5,500 in my bank waiting to be spent, but not sure what to do????

Please advise

Im 20 with only been driving since April 09. So 0 YNC at the moment. And i cant afford the insurance as well as cost off living and the bank loan repayments on the 5.5k i took out on saturday. Like i said i would love a 1.9 but just cant do it at the moment. Was hoping to get a 1.4 tdi mapped up a bit. But cant seem to find any decent 1.4tdi's around my area.

i never look at just my area when car hunting (and i have had 8 of them) because you can always find something cheaper elsewhere, ok might be a whole days travel there and back but could save you a fortune on the car

is it not worth buying a £250 jobbie until you have a years ncb and then see what prices are like?

I have seen a few that are like 80 mile away, but to travel 80 to find its not i the condition i wanted = not happy. The car that's my avitar is what i curently drive, Which costs me 2k to insure, but wheni tried to insure a 1.9 ibiza they wanted 3k. So i tried the 1.4tdi and it drops to the 1300 mark which is better then what i am paying now.

the best one for you to look at in all seriousness 1.9tdi 100 dont look at the FR yet, the 100 is a low insurance, iirc its a group 5, the 1.4tdi is a good car, but you'll mostly find the ecomotive, i really enjoyed my 1.4 sport 100 it was a hoot and pretty nippy, i had that when i was 21 and 1yr driving 0 ncb cost me £101 a month to insure

Dont think i coulf be trusted with a FR lol!Would be nice tho.

I have found a nice 2007 1.9 tdi DAB, 100bhp. But is £5,495 which is my limit and it got 70,000 miles on clock, but its 80 mile away again! Who did you insure that with, i am currently with Direct line. Think i need to phone my insurance and get some quotes on the 1.4tdi and the 1.9tdi.

Cheers for the advise people! Happy to be a member of this forum!

I would say less than 2k anyway.

The 1.9 TDi PD100 is only group insurance 5 and the 1.4 TDi is group insurance 4.

The 1.4 Petrol DAB is group insurance 5 aswell.

i'm no expert but you need to change insurance companies, i found direct line very expensive. you're not the age group they want to insure so they give you a crazy quote. try the ones mentioned above.

would highly recommend the 1.9 TDi 100 =]
I LOVE my 130, but 100 can easily be mapped to 150!

you should of waited until april and got 1 yr no claims =]
but I just cancelled my policy after 8 months lmao so I'm exactly the same!

oh right, have you been doing quotes as if you have got your 1 yr no claims?

I am 18 with 1yr NCB and insure my TDi FR for £1176 with elephant!
Do a quote with them as if you are in april and let me know what you get, for 1.9 TDi 100
