i wish i had know about this before i ordered mine but never mind. i know i should get mine within the next 10 working days.

would it be usefull to do a spet by step instruction for people who have not done this kind of thing before. it will be a learning curve for me and im sure it may assist others, with photo's and maybe hints / tips for install.

I created a guide for the Leon that may help. Obviously some parts are going to be different - the car specific bits at least - but the main principles will be the same. Have a look at the 'HID FAQ' post right at the top of the Leon forum section.

i have just had a nagging feeling... i have heard about 'short' and 'long' bulbs.... apparently the 'long' ones dont fit in where the standard H7 bulb goes, as it hits the reflector.... i hope this isnt right, or im reading up on the wrong thing

dead on cheers
I would of gathered the 1.4 would be the same standard ?

nope. some 1.4's have a single bulb for dipped and main (H4), and some are the same as the cupra lights (without the black insert) which is a twin bulb, H1 = main, H7 = dipped.

not sure why some have single some have twin but i guess its just what VW had thrown away and what seat could grab out of the parts bin.

I know this may sound stupid

But if your lights are just on reguallry will it be eg. 6000k beam showing or does it only work if your full beam is on ?

In that case would it not look stupid if it was foggy and your usual beam was 6000k and fog lights 3000k (yellow)

dont get you.. if you have an H7 HID bulb then when the lights are on dipped beam then you HID will be working... if you turn on main beam your standard H1 bulb will also come one.

fog lights are also standard bulbs... where did you get the 3000k from ?
