I've picked up all the parts for the glove box light today including 5 of each wire.
They are individual parts.
With luck I'll fit it tomorrow and I'll let you know how many wires you need.

chears mate, any chance of taking some pics as well matey? would really help if you could and Ill probably make a guide out of it when I do mine 2 help others.

I'll take piccies and post with a "how to do" guide.

Can tell you now the wires are wrong as listed in the first post by BlackFR!

You need 3 wires.

The first wire runs from the power feed to the switch. The switch end needs a connector as found on 000 979 131 but I've not checked what connector lets you join to the power feed on the other end.

The second wire runs from the switch to the lamp. So you need a wire with a connector as found on 000 979 131 on one end and a connector as found on 000 979 133 on the other end.

The third cable runs from the lamp to ground so you need a connector as found on 000 979 133 on one end and probably a plain eye connector on the other end.

Watch this space I'll let you know. :D

The chances are I'll have wires left over. Once I've made the changes needed I can do another set.
If you're interested I can post them to you for what I paid for them (£1.10 each).
It'll save you having to order the wires or make the changes yourself and I get back some money for items I don't need.
It'll be 3 wires.
Let me know

Guy.

Well, it's all fitted.
I'll do a how to guide ASAP as I took piccies whilst fitting.

I only have one problem.
I'm not sure where to take the power from.
I ran a wire from the battery live terminal to check it all works and it does!

I intended to use the interior light supply but the wire from the roof light that also feeds the boot light runs down the right hand side if the car.

Perhaps I could use the power supply to the passenger door pressure switch?
Just can't work out which wire carries power into the door.

Any help much appreciated so that I can finish the job properly and get the "how to" thing posted.

Thanks Guy.

any permant live should be ok shouldnt it guy how about the live feed for the stereo

Not sure.
Is the stereo feed affected by the ignition switch?

I'd hoped to use the door supply because it's only a few inches from where the glove box switch is mounted.

Guy.

Think there should be a permanant feed for the memory which isnt affected by the ignition but the door switch should work aswell

about the wires let me know mate, al see what I need when u post your guide im making my dealer run on wed.

No probs mate just don't buy the wires! ;) The wires I've got left over are ready to fit now.
I adapted all of them once I knew what I needed.
I used 3 wires at £1.10 each so I only want £3.30 which is what they cost me plus a stamp.
If you do want the wires from me send me a PM and only buy the following.

3B0 947 415 Lamp £4.84
1J0 947 561 Switch £2.22
893 971 632 Housing £1.23
1J0 973 119 Housing £1.23

Total £9.52 + VAT

This picture shows the lamp and switch with the wires in place.
You can't see it properly but the wire that runs between the lamp and switch is made from 2 different wires cut & soldered thus a different fitting on each end.
Re the end of the wire that's highlighted I blanked it and will use a "scotch-lock" to connect to the power feed (bought a pack so I'll put one in the envelope).

Not too far away

What was wrong? Part number or quantity?

I ordered 5 because there was an MOQ of 5 of them.

+ve Supply for the glovebox light should come from the interior light. That was if you leave the glovebox open it won't flatten your battery.

Quantities for wires are a bit out.
Not a problem.
Thanks for starting this. :)

joon where do u plan 2 hook em into, the interior light?

The power is probably going to come from the supply to the door switch for the interior light as it's somewhere very close to the switch.
I'm not exactly sure which wire it is but am waiting for advice from SEAT technical department in M.K.
Dealer couldn't tell me! :banghead2
As soon as I find out I'll post.

Guy.
