Ibiza Cupra Tdi/petrol - Discontinued??

Was in Seat today looking into purchasing an Ibiza Cupra TDI. Was told by the sales woman that Seat are discontinuing the Cupra range and the Diesel FR as they are not selling enough? She said the value of the Cupra should hold its price even more now as they will become quite rare. ludicrous!

Can someone confirm this?

p.s. think am gonna buy it this weekend. 57 plate - £13,000 is this a good price??

The Ibiza Mk4 is being discontinued - but the Cupra / FR is the best selling model in the UK range, so I can't see her being 100% up on the facts there

I was a dealer in Glasgow. I'm waiting for a call tomorrow, told her I would buy it if she could get it as close to £13000 as possible. Its a pre reg. I was in the book at 15,559 - had a peek. To be honest I dont know if she will get it to £13k or not

Silly question, but how can be pre-registered if 57-plates aren't even available yet?!

Super deal, although I understand that dealers are generally discounting the
tdi cupra more than the FR due to its much higher insurance rating. ie. 7 more groups for 30+ bhp and not much more torque.

Other than the breaks and the 30bhp whats the difference with the frtdi and cupra tdi. wouldnt a remap and 312 conversion save you a couple of grand?

Yep, and overall, prefer the package of the FR to the Cupra. But that is just my opinion!

Cupra has huge FMIC, better brakes (better than 312mm), will see 200bhp with a remap (compared with FR's 170-180), has ESP as standard, bigger wheels/tyres, better styling...

If you add up the parts costs of a FMIC, remap, bigger brakes and then the extra costs of declaring these mods to your insurer, you might as well buy the Cupra. Cupra would be far more saleable than a car that had been extensively modded too.

You can see that sort of power quite easily with what is effectively the same engine. In any event, what you are saying would mean declaring mods to the insurance company on the Cupra. Wheels are same size, just a bit wider on Cupra. Brakes would be an easy fix, and the looks are subjective. The Cupra is obviously the slightly better car, but I could not justify the difference in price and particularly the massive difference in insurance groups.

The dealer could mean that the mk4 is being discontinued (obvious), but when the mk5, or what ever, is coming out there won't be a FR/CUPRA version for sometime. Look at the mk4 didn't it take 2 years before a cupra version was introduced to the range?
