The work continues:)
Got a week off to sort some bits out on the Ibiza and get to the bottom of a few things, jacked it up to sort out an exhuast leak from the centre box to discover the sleeve between the cat and box was missing a bolt and the sleeve itself had a hole in it too

A new sleeve was amongst the spares package but unfortunetly it was the wrong diameter so luckily I had a exhuast repair kit in stock and nicked one of the bolts from the new sleave. Not pretty but no leaks and wont drop off:rolleyes:

He's just popped by... weirdly it didn't even feel like my car. I guess I've not driven it for over two months anyway

After it stopped raining today I started to work on the suspension & steering to get to the bottom of some of the noises its been making. jacked up the car and the side with the suspected wheel bearing noise was so bad that the outer CV had been rubbing on the hub casting. Getting the hubs off was a mare in itself, could not disconnect the track rod ends for love nor money - tried heat and even bent my balljoint splitting tool trying to do so:blink:

fortunetly new rod ends came with the car so Ive not got to worry about destroying the old ones getting them off the hub, also replaced the wishbones and lower ball joints - snapped one of the antiroll bar drop links but luckily I still have the old antiroll bar from the Cordoba and nabbed one off that:) Will also replace the top mounts once Ive borrowed the impact wrench from work.

So until a local garage get around to pressing the new bearings in and my bashed up finger is better, the Ibiza is VOR for now.

Time for abit of an update, been busy with other 'stuff' of late

Previously I got the front end re-assembled with the replacment koni shocks that came with the car to discover the resulting stance wasn't to my liking

So after abit of deliberation I got myself a stonking deal on a SACHS Sporting kit comprising of Eibach springs and gas shocks, also fitted new discs and pads on the front as I managed to warp the old ones when they were on the golf (pics to follow) and new front tyres

Upon replacing the suspension, this made me giggle. Anwsers on a post card too....:)

Had a bit of headache when it came to adjust the tracking as the threads on the track rods were heavlily corroded, ended up heatign it all up till it was cherry red to get it to budge:blink:

Set about repairing the back end from its prang,

Bit of a mess as you can see, prised the crashbar off with a bit of violence and carefully used a 10t toe jack to push the floor and around the tailgate shutline back straight and sourced a 2nd crash bar from a local scrappy for £10. got to replace the snap nuts and screws around the archlends as they were too corroded to undo

Ooooh dear:(

Got me hands on a 16v rear spoiler and an unmolested airbox, Its got a drilled one on it at the mo and nice as the noise its abit annoying on a long journey I must be getting old lol

VIC check booked for the 24th so I'm hoping it passes that no problem, then an MOT and some road tax :help:

VIC done and passed:) Was somewhat deflated for my £38 when the tester only checked the VIN number along the top of the bulkhead, the sticker next to the brake resevior and the sticker in the boot, none of my repair work was checked and was done in 5 mins flat:blink:

Upon arriving to the test station the drivers side wheel was chucking out steam and the wheels was very warm to touch, siezed piston is the likely cuase which is strange as the brakes came off a 2001 Mk3 Ibiza Sport.

A MOT booked for tommorow and hopefully it'll all be legit soon:)
