Just bought the leon, i should of bought in the first place lol, diesels good dont get me wrong, but it just didnt seem like the car i wanted.

Loved the old colour tho but black is the best when clean looking good mate i like my diesel one but need more power to bring it upto somewhere were id be happy to keep it, i do miss a revvy petrol engine tho...

The revvy engine is another reason why i went with it.

cheers,so you did use rim tapes then? i was intrested in knowing if you had to stop at the spokes and now i know,i had rim tapes on my old car it looked really good. i always got good comments on them anyway.

Another small update.....

2 of the wheels had some bad kerbing, so i decided i wanted all of them mint, so i am getting the wheels powdercoated one at a time.. But i decided to get a high power gloss finish, as the OEM colour was more or a dull silver finish.

Well the cars booked in at Awesome gti, a week on friday for a Cat back Milltek, as the OEM ones just about to drop off,

While i have been waiting for that i decided to have ago at polishing the intake manifold....

I got the first wheel on back from the powdercoaters, Its a different silver, a more metallic fresh silver...

Its been waiting along time but i finally had chance to set about getting the paint in tip top condition, the paint is looking a fair bit weathered after 5 years of abuse, and a life of improper paint care.

As it seems a big project, i thaught i wud take a fair bit of work, so this could be one to watch in the future.

So first things first, i would tackle my wheels,

Using some Billberry safe wheel cleaner and a vikan wheel brush....

Then on with a thick coat of Snow foam...

After the snow foam and 2 bucket method....

Then i continued to clay the whole car, using meg's last touch as lubricant.
I hit most of the car with a few passes using the Porter cable, Sonus sfx pad an Menzerna 106ff

after one pass...

Still see quite a few imperfections...

another pass....

99% gone.

Ive also got some new "R" badges on the way, as the old ones have suffered from the lacquer lifting away and there lookin abit shabby, Im wanting to get it concours standard

nice updates the wheels the intake and the polishing,cant beleive the transformation in that last picture,how did you go about doing the intake mani?

I have been polishing as much as i can of the manifold on the car, as its sounds a fair bit tricky to remove the manifold,

I just worked my way up through sandpaper, then onto a set of polishing mops.
