Thinking about a DIY job

In answer to the replies above, Im only doing this to the outer edge - leaving the S in chrome. Just cant get this type of grille yet for the facelift model

Its not perfect, my masking tape caught a section. Will need to sand down when the paint is very hard and touch up - job for tomorrow night!

Just some Halfrauds gloss black spray paint and a can of clear lacquer. Prepared the surface first by sanding with fine sand-paper and cleaning with meths.

Like I said, Ive buggered a bit of it but should be able to sort it tonight easy enough

Did mine, but did not use a undercoat base and the paint chip off!!! now used under coat and the paint has stayed on - longer!! - stone chips are a curse. .............................................
Can't attach pics at the moment

Mine has a stone chip on it, do you think the spray shop hasn't used primer on it?

He's going to sort the stone chip for me but surely the rest of the grill will end up chipped?

Ive re-sanded tonight and its got another coat on it drying now. I'll respray again in about 15mins then leave to dry again. Im trying to build coats up to prevent stone chips becoming a problem.

Going to finish off with the clear lacquer again to seal it all and put an extra protective coating on.

Its dead easy once you have taped up the bits you dont want to spray

Looking at my bonnet I don't think it matters what you do ALL Leons seem to suffer from stone chips - and I DON'T driveclose to anyone either [ my bonnet will have to have a respray before I sell on?!?@] so just be prepared to respray every so often - the clear laquer certainly helps to ward off/delay chipping though. ............................

guys .... i'm in trouble...... how's the badge removed from the car?

I'm not able... I trim out the small screw (poping off) and then .... I stop there. I try to pull out pressing the two side flap ... but I failed.

I'm afraid to break it.

How can I do ?

Thanks

A gloss Black "S" would look cool I think, even more so on a Cupra grill, with the Black surround too!? :)
