I tried to use that golfgti forum instructions but the options are totally different from what I can see. Dean or Anybody else that have successfully implemented this mod, could you please provide the link to the instructions you used? :help:
Many thanks!

You need AB for the dim with dipped and EF for the dim with indicators. 2 and 3 as per the gti instructions for left and right.

I've got it working now! :)
I settled for 80% on Dipped and Sides & 70% on for Indication (this looked ok at night but need to check in daylight as could be too bright and needs readjustment)

Thanks for your quick response Dean, your explanation is much better as the gti forum just referred to CD option as 'Parking Lights' which I thought was the dipped lights but on my Leon the value for It was already set to100 so I thought the instructions were wrong. So It seems for us Leon owners this setting refers to our DRL only.

So to make it easier for anybody else thinking of changing the DRL brightness I have summarised it below:

- Go into [09] Central Electronics
- Go to Secuity Access and enter 31347
- Go into Adaptation
- Then change the channels as follows:
To adjust DRL brightness when Dipped and Side lights are on - default value = 35
LHS - "(6)-Leuchte2SL VLB-10-Dimmwert AB2"
RHS - "(6)-Leuchte3SL VRB-21-Dimmwert AB3"

To adjust DRL brightness - default value = 100
LHS - "(10)-Leuchte2SL VLB-10-Dimmwert CD2"
RHS - "(10)-Leuchte3SL VRB-21-Dimmwert CD3"

To adjust DRL brightness for when Indicators are on - default value = 35
LHS - "(14)-Leuchte2SL VLB-10-Dimmwert EF"
RHS - "(14)-Leuchte3SL VRB-21-Dimmwert EF3"

Hi

There are coding differences between mine (early car) and AJ's (newer car)

This could be to do with other tweaks AJ has made, however I've done a spreadsheet to compare coding of 09 & 52 areas which relate to the wing mirror issues, as mine and AJ's have different features, I don't have issues with it returning, but he can adjust his lower and it will return while mine won't.

Hopefully someone more familiar with coding can assist.

Thanks

I did wonder whether the mods I did cause the differences in the coding so I went back and took all of the mods I made off and re-ran the autoscan so as if the car had just come out of the factory and I got exactly the same results for 09: Cent.Elect. & 52: DoorElect,Pass. . So I guess as most of mods were made in the Adaption section it didn't change the coding.

I have put Nokia and My results into an excel spreadsheet and did a Conditional Formatting lookup and highlighted all the unique data we each have (I removed all spaces in the text so comparison was more accurate) and it does show that there are quite a few differences between our data, not just coding info.

So I guess to help solve this riddle for peeps we need to find out whether any of the components within the subsystems are actually related to the wing mirror itself as it seems like I have components with different numbers to Nokia despite the SW & HW data being the same for that subsystem. If this is a case I would assume that the components have been changed to make this feature work - I could be totally wrong with this assumption :)

Thanks AJ,

I wondered whether some different parts/serial number was down to the build date of the car rather than anything else, though if there are chips relating to function then an updated part may be the answer.

Someone on Briskoda hinted that memory seats are needed to store the mirror position but I don't think thats right, I never had them on my Golf and it still save the mirror memory.

No probs mate, the data does seem to point to an updated part but I'm certainly no parts expert :)

With regards to the memory seats theory it might be the case for Skodas but certainly not on our Leons. I don't have memory seats and I don't even think that was an option in the Leon brochure.

Hi all, I'm new to VCDs but got everything connected up. How ever, I'm a bit stumped. E.g I was trying to put the laptimer on but it says select STG 17. When I select anything with 17 on it, that refers to instrument and can't find anything related to a timer. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Yea it's not 17. It's the one called instruments. Then same byte and bit.

Yep agree I'm not a fan of that either, just looks a bit odd to me :)
I was a little disappointed that the indicators on the Leon uses bulbs rather than an LED strip like on the Mk7 Golf and new A3, that would have finished the car off nicely IMO.

Agree its not for me either, like AJ I too was disappointed by the bulbs but I guess there has to some cost savings somewhere against its higher priced siblings.. The 10% or so saving over the equivalent golf has to come from somewhere so I say let the golf have its LEDS! I'll take the £2k!

Thanks fellas, won't bother with this tweak then. It's not as classy looking as the standard DRL dim I agree.
Although, if I get bored one day I may just see what it'd look like on our Leon's with LED indicator.

Our front indicators are LED?

Evening everyone, activated the needle sweep, locking chirp and carbon display tonight which I was delighted with. However, the first time I go to start the car up with the cable in (it's happened twice) it ticks over about 2-3 times before the engine actually starts. This has never happened before. Should I be concerned? Has this happened to anyone else? Cheers all!

Never noticed this and i have done a fair few runs with it plugged in data logging etc.

Hmmm, seems very random that it's happened. I'll see what it's like in the morning but with the changes I've made there's no reason why it should be doing this :S

Yeah you're right Dean :)

Sorry I was referring to the rear ones as in the brochure it states the FR comes with LED Taillight. I was hoping that it meant LED indicator strips like on the new Golf & A3 but never mind I still love my car and like Frac says I saved so much money going for the Leon over the Golf and A3, which I also looked at, so I'm very happy :D
